My husband and I took the kids to Cooperstown, NY today to visit the Baseball Hall of Fame and Doubleday Stadium. (That was fantastic by the way.) It’s about a two hour drive. Weren’t we lucky to listen to John McCain introduce Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate and then the Governor’s speech during our drive.
John McCain sounded great. He said the government should be on your side, not in your way. He talked about Governor Palin’s executive experience and how she fought oil companies, party bosses and do nothing bureaucrats! He said she promises nothing less than the best she has to give.
We were then treated to Governor Palin’s speech. From what I hear she didn’t even need a teleprompter. One thing that struck my husband and I is just how genuine this woman sounds, and how she seems to be a lot like us.
To us, today was the most exciting day of the election. We are thrilled with Senator McCain’s choice and I will be sending his campaign a donation tomorrow. (I was holding out until he chose a running mate.) He’s chosen a true conservative who really knows what it’s like to be a working mom with a family. She’s also a proven reformer who isn’t afraid to take on anybody.
We also took note of the crowd chanting “USA”. No other silly slogans. Just plain old pride in country.
Happy Birthday to Senator McCain and Happy Anniversary to the Palins. We hope Sarah Palin will shatter that glass ceiling.
