ABC News vs. Sarah Palin

I was going to title this post “Charlie Gibson vs. Sarah Palin” untiil I witnessed ABC’s hit piece on the Governor on 20/20 Friday night. If there was any doubt about ABC’s bias in favor of Barack Obama before, there isn’t any today.

Kate Snow opened the show with a “biography” of Sarah Palin, saying what the McCain campaign has released about the Governor is “part fact and part fable”. She mentioned that Palin went to more than one college before she graduated. The one complimentary comment from Snow was back-handed,  she said “Remarkably, her popularity rating is 80%.” As if it’s very surprising that this gun totin’, bible thumpin’, small town hick could be popular.

The biography continued, with Snow mentioning that Obama, his supporters and the media have been “asking questions” about the Governor. Oh, is that what they’ve been doing? Thanks for clearing that up for us, Kate.

We were told about Palin’s success at getting earmarks as Mayor of Wasila and how Alaska built a “road to nowhere” instead of the bridge to nowhere. She even threw in Palin’s expense reports since she’s been governor. Has anyone heard anything about Barack Obama or Joe Biden’s expense reports? I didn’t think so.

And Snow didn’t stop there. She brought up “Troopergate” without mentioning the threats the trooper in question made against Palin’s family, or that he tasered his young step-son. But she did point out that not all of Sarah Palin’s good friends are ready to endorse her.

I searched YouTube videos to see if I could find any instance of ABC treating Barack Obama or Joe Biden in such a fashion. Nada. I searched ABC’s website, again, nada. So much for objective journalism.

Surprise! From Kate Snow’s bio: “Snow is a graduate of Cornell University . . . . ” In other words, an Ivy; in The Club. This bunch absolutely will not give Sarah Palin a fair hearing, much less a break.

Cornell – go figure, it’s the center of the liberal mecca – Ithaca, NY. The district that gave us Rep. Hinchey. I’m sure she fit right in.

The Pathetic Pawns have been exposed for the sensationalist thugs they are. They will be relegated to tabloid status by the end of the election. They sold their souls a long time ago.

I saw this too, and was in disbelief. It was truly unabashedly biased with no attempt to pretend otherwise. My only hope was that watchers who aren’t already in Obamaland will see it for what it was, or tune it out because they’ve already been desensitized to this outrageous coverage. Ditto for the interview clips that followed- after reading the transcript compared to what they showed, and seeing comparisons from the questions Charlie asked Obama in his interview, it’s clear that he may as well have been wearing an Obama t-shirt.

I hope this backfires on them. Any thoughts about what we can do in the meantime to help that happen?

Sad. ABC was the only network left with a modicum of credibility and now it has none. Zero. I’m relegated to cable news. Charlie Gibson was downright smarmy and disrespectful in his tone of voice and his body language. And who prepared that set? Is that person moonlighting for Sen. Obama? Their feet were practically touching and the camera angles were bizarre! And now that we have the entire transcript – well, suffice it to say, it was a hatchet job. As a Hillary supporter who worked very hard for her in the primary election, I have decided to vote for Sen. McCain for having the wisdom and courage to nominate a smart, experienced, warm, funny, and caring woman who happens to be the mother of five and the governor of the energy-richest, lowest taxed stage in America. Charlie don’t believe your female colleagues. They’re going to vote for him too.
