The Obama campaign’s latest email sounds like one of those too-good-to-be-true-get-rich-quick schemes. Here are the highlights.
This week, the economic troubles that have long been simmering on Main Street boiled over to Wall Street, putting our entire economy in danger.
Barack laid out a plan to address this crisis and offered strong, practical solutions for American families.
Here are some key elements of Barack’s plan:
- A $1,000 emergency energy rebate to help families with high fuel costs right now while putting $50 billion into job creation to get our economy back on track.
- Families making less than $250,000 a year will get a tax cut three times larger than under John McCain’s plan and will face absolutely no tax increases.
- While John McCain has voted against raising the minimum wage 19 times, Barack would raise the minimum wage and set it to rise automatically with inflation.
- Invest $15 billion a year in green energy research to reduce our economy’s dependence on foreign oil and create 5 million American jobs a year.
There’s a big difference between the change we need and the Bush-McCain politics we need to leave behind.
Didn’t they get the memo that US taxpayers are now on the hook for nearly $1 trillion in bad mortgage debt? According to Obama, we need to expand the government even more.
Where will the $1000 per family to heat our homes come from? Where will the $50 billion come from to create these magical mystery jobs? How can they afford to triple a tax cut to anyone? Who is going to fork over $15 billion per year for green energy research?
And let’s not forget his promise of free health care and the global poverty tax. I don’t think there are enough patriotic rich people left in America to pay for all of his goodies.
My parents always taught me that if something sounds too goo to be true it’s a bad deal. Barack Obama’s deal for America will be downright dangerous.

Al Gore has alerted us to the global warming problem. The Nancy Pelosi,Harry Reid,Barack Obama plan is to not drill within 50 miles of the shoreline where the known natural gas and oil reserves lie.Al Gore also did not help our economy when he said that we need to make great progress at weaning ourselves off oil in 10 years .Our economy needs some relief from oil prices as the high price is causing big inflation. So instead of trying to lower oil prices Obama wants government tax relief to offset energy prices !

When we run out of rich people or they run out of money who do we tax? This is like ordering a huge dinner knowing yo are not paying the bill.
Obama will not end all wars. He wants to drastically ramp up Afganastan so I am betting that $10B/mo savings from Iraq will go right there.
The current tax breaks help everyone. Do you think when you tax a business the don’t pass that expense on to the consumer?
Obama’s tax plan is a myth. It will never happen. That’s what Bill Clinton was talking about when he gave the example of Candidate X and Candidate Y.
The fact is that the problem is not revenue at all. It is spending. This is why you can’t fund all the Obama spending, give money back to 95% of people, and then just have the those awful rich top 5% pay. It just doesn’t work.
We already have a $500B deficit. I think it is immoral to make someone else pay my bill. We need to cut government spending and hold revenue to what it is.
We need a tax policy that encourages capital investment. This will generate more revenues and provide jobs so people don’t have to rely on government to provide what they can do for themselves.
Obama will not cut your taxes. It’s just words.

If it’s too good to be true then it is definitely a fraud. How in the world will he pay for these programs. Talk about lying to the public after his lies on social security in his Florida speach. Maybe this is Kenya politics.

Families making under $250k will get “absolutely” no tax increase? I’ll venture most of those families have capital gains and dividend income that will see large tax hikes under Obama. Moreover, those who run businesses will see hikes on business taxes. Those who stand to inherit will see death taxes capturing a much larger share of their inheritance. What is absolute about the Obama campaign’s no tax hike pledge for folks making under 250k? It’s absolutely untrue.

He’s going to “Invest $15 billion a year in green energy research to reduce our economy’s dependence on foreign oil and create 5 million American jobs a year.” Divide $15 billion by 5 million jobs = $3,000 per year per job, or about $1.50 per hour. Who would TAKE these jobs, if they pay less than a quarter of minimum wage?
Does anyone in the Obama campaign bother to do any math, or must everyone leave their brains at the door as they plunge down the rabbit hole to Barry in Wonderland?

I think his plan is sneaky but simple. He wants everyone to believe that we’ll get something for nothing. He mixes in all this fancy talk to spin your head so you miss what he really wants too do but in the end as long as you think you’re getting something for nothing… He wins. He’s really using the fact that most americans can’t follow all this twisting talk. Sounds like a predator to me or a bank trying to give a you loan 2 years ago. Either way, it’s criminal.

Reading the responses here makes me laugh, I am an Obama supporter and I believe that everyone is entitled to vote and believe whichever way their heart desires. You guys have every right to feel however you do. All I ask is that if you are going to comment – MAKE SOME DAMN SENSE… Not every comment is guilty but Im sure that even some republicans reading some of these comment would probably disown some of them.
The $1.50 an hour comment… HA that was too funny, he was serious too. Thats not how it works Bud.
“He mixes in all that fance talk to spin your head”… HA, repubs must be proud of that one, good job sheldon
