Barack Obama said he will delay rescinding President Bush’s tax cuts on the wealthy because the economy is fragile. He went on to say he will let President Bush’s tax cuts expire in 2010.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m middle class and when President Bush cut taxes, he cut my taxes too. I remember it well because shortly after the tax cuts went into effect I received my annual raise. For the first time in my working life my entire raise appeared in my paycheck. You know how it is, you’re told your getting a raise of X amount but you never can figure out how much of that raise will land in your paycheck.
So if he will allow the tax cuts to expire, won’t any middle class tax cut he proposes simply be a wash? And if he increases taxes on wealthy Americans, as he has promised, won’t he damage the economy, as he admits will happen if taxes go up?
I thinking I’m getting pretty good at figuring out this whole circular logic, nuance thing.

Raising taxes on the rich will add to the sparse funds we now have. The powers that were did that in the twenties but the rich didn’t spend as they correctly prophesized that things would get worse and they would do better when they did get worse. so, please, stop the nonsense and have obama do as he so often repeated he would do during his campaign. In other words: crap or get off the pot!
