In front of more than 37 million of her fellow Americans, Sarah Palin not only cleared the zone but inflicted a board check against the Democrats and the media. Thinking she’s just some country bumpkin mayor from Alaska, they weren’t expecting her to deliver Wednesday night. Boy were they wrong and boy are they mad!
Roger Simon at Politico wrote a scathing rebuttal. The Boston Herald went after her hair. Annette Bening called her bizarre and said nobody she knows would vote for McCain (as if that’s some sort of secret). Over at the Chicago Sun Times they say she has the heart of a street fighter. It seems the most positive press for Governor Palin came from across the pond, where the UK Sun called her speech simply stunning. Indeed, it was stunning. And she totally caught them off guard.
This morning on Good Morning America, looking like they were caught with their pants down, Charles Gibson, Katie Couric and Brian Williams responded to accusations of sexism from the media. They said they wouldn’t be doing their jobs if they didn’t ask tough questions. One of them said that if Obama had chosen Tim Kaine, Kaine would have received the same treatment. Good example, a hypothetical that cannot be proved nor disproved. Please, tell me another one.
Barack Obama and his campaign aren’t any happier than their media mouthpieces. Obama complained about Palin’s attacks on him. He has a very short memory, did he forget about his speech a week ago? You know the attack on John McCain, the one the media ate up? Count how many times he mentions George Bush, Dick Cheney and John McCain, portraying them as villians who rob people of the American dream.
In response to Governor Palin’s speech, Obama’s campaign manager sniffed that Palin hadn’t mentioned health care. Obama whined about why Palin didn’t talk about making college affordable (not mentioning that liberals control the colleges). Their complaint against her is that she isn’t pandering to people! They simply don’t understand that people can like Sarah Palin if she is not promising goodies, provided by the fruits of others’ labor.
Yes, it’s stunning! I do believe Sarah Palin is the best thing to happen to the GOP since Ronald Reagan.

If I may amend your last statement? She’s the best thing to happen to AMERICA since Ronald Reagan!

The panic of the media and the rest of the Dems just shows how much they are afraid of her. Nothing else would exolain the vehemence of their attacks on her.

You’d think they would try to be a bit more subtle.

These people are ridiculous, she didn’t talk about college prices, she didn’t talk about health care. You know, she didn’t talk about the price of corn at the grocery store, Russia invading Georgia, North Korea’s nuclear facilities, putting a man on Mars, or the AIDS epidemic in Africa either. Do they really expect one person to touch on every issue around the world in one 30 minute speech?
