Are you as sick of hearing people on the left saying “Everyone needs to pay their fair share” as I am? They say this while supporting a Presidential candidate to who wants to increase the number of people who pay nothing in taxes, while increasing taxes on those who pay the most. How does that jibe with “everyone must pay their fair share”?
Barack Obama has promised to lower taxes on 95% of Americans. Do people really believe that? What about the 40% or so of Americans who already pay nothing in taxes? Does a ”reduction” for them mean a bigger payment from the government? He tells senior citizens who make $50,000 per year or less that they will pay nothing in taxes. Who is going to make up the difference? Their children and grandchildren?
Most Americans are perfectly happy to pay for our share of services that benefit all of us such as highways, police, fire, military, etc. We’re also willing to help those who are unable to help themselves. But when the government starts forcing us to fund every program under the sun that politicians come up with in order to garner favor with voters, some of us tend to get a bit testy.
Wealth redistribution is not paying your fair share. Taking from one to give it to another is just what it sounds like-theft. It is government sanctioned robbery.
