Charles ‘Chuck You’ Schumer paid a visit to Syracuse today to tell us how he and his pals are going to create lots of jobs for the people of Central New York. Sort of like Hillary Clinton’s promise to bring 250,000 new jobs to Upstate New York. We’re still waiting.
“Infrastructure jobs are generally good paying jobs like these here at C&S. And when people are hired here, they then go to the local stores, to the local supermarkets, to the local restaurants and inject money into the economy,” Schumer said.
But beyond jobs at places like C & S, Schumer says the plan will benefit the entire region. Read full story.
He went on to say we can’t do nothing like Hoover, that we need to prime the pump. Has he turned on the TV lately or picked up a newspaper? Shouldn’t a US Senator know what the US Treasury is up to? Prime the pump?!? The pump’s running full force and the well’s running dry. That’s okay according to Schumer, we’ll worry about how to pay for it all later.
In true FDR fashion, the Democrats plan to spend their way out of this problem. These politicians think they, and only they, know how to create jobs. FDR thought the same thing, and FDR made things worse.
Are we going to see history repeat itself?

Can you say, Kenesian? Demand side economics, we stimulate everything by giving people money. It’s the way of the democrat. FDR was a failure, Carter was a failure. Bubba has the GOP to thank for boomlet, that and Jim Johnson pumping up the economy with loans through freddie and fannie. We know how that turned out.
Demand side creates no wealth, no growth.
Someone said yesterday 70% of GDP is consumption. That is scary.

SA, I could be mistaken, but I thought I heard that Keynes in his later years backed away from some of his own beliefs regarding the economy.
