Dems want to Nationalize Auto Companies

Democrats are now pushing for a government ownership stake in the US auto companies, in exchange for a $25 billion bailout package. Read Story. As if the Democrats in government, who are in the back pockets of the unions, will somehow manage to make these companies profitable.

They’re trying to scare us, like they did before the other bailouts that haven’t worked. This time they want us, the taxpayers, to bailout an industry that’s failing, in part because they’ve made such bad deals with unions. How many people in America with no college degree make $70K a year with a full pension? There aren’t many that I know of. But we’ll get to fund those nice little perks.

Where will it end? Nationalizing banks, insurance companies, airlines? Welcome to the USSA, comrades!

The auto industry crisis is definetely self induced. The UAW members have some outgrageous pay rates for what they do. I’m a union member and my pay rate for my years of service dosen’t even touch what they make. I once saw an interview with a Ford worker who said he couldn’t afford to retire. This idiot had 40 years of service. I’d like to know what the hell he did with his money. I guess that’s what you get when you pay an uneducated person so much money.
I’m personally tired of seeing all of the irresponsibility. Let them sink. Maybe companies will grow a brain and realize that responsibility is the best preventative medicine after a few earth shattering collapses.

Self induced? Yes, but only in part, the government has been shoving regulations up their tailpipes in ever increasing doses since the early seventies. Our government has been hamstringing our manufacturers with taxes, administrative fees, and over regulation till we are faced with the serious consequences we are now seeing in our financial straights.

Do I agree with the bailout? No, I think it is a temporary gesture at best and another in a long line of failed government “fixes”

The should just go bancrupt, go into reorganization, start over with new contracts, maybe get bought out by foreign companies, or whatever. Who wants a car designed by Harry Reid , Barney Frank, or Nancy Pelosi?
