My seven year old son, who is in 2nd grade, is in the other room using the computer with his ten year old friend, who’s in fifth grade. For the past year they’ve played on the lap top without any problems. In fact, they just sent me the draft copy of the book they’re writing. So I was astonished when I heard about the troubles the White House staff encountered using the White House email system.
Not only did they crash the email system, they’re bitching about the “archaic” six year old operating system left behind by the former White House staff. They consider Windows XP and Outlook Express to be archaic. I’ve used both, and they’re both quite simple. In fact, I had fewer problems with XP than I have with Vista.
Back to the kids, I thought maybe I was mistaken and the laptop has some really easy operating system that Obama staffers would be able to use. Nope, it’s Windows XP. The kids were thrilled when I told them they’re smarter than the White House staff.
Com’on now you are not being fair to the liberals. Try pre-k for comparisons, then the staffers should be on par.
I hate Windows. Until I just couldn’t afford to upgrade I was a Mac guy. MS is the worst operating system created by man, always has been. The funny part is Gates stole it. The operating system IBM wanted wasn’t for sale by the creator’s wife. The guy who wrote it was out of town at the time. As a second choice they went to Gates who bought the rites from someone for $10k without telling them IBM wanted it.
The OS was CPM-86, my first computer used that OS, was very straight forward. Just think if the guy had been home how much happier we’d all be including the dunces in the WH.
Someone should send them a copy of Windows XP for Dummies.

XP was better than Vista, which I have now and wish I never “upgraded”. But I agree, Windows is inferior.
