While reading the Wall Street Journal this morning I kept thinking our government has run completely amok. It appears the federal government is modeling their ‘green jobs’ plan after the failed experiment in California. Higher taxes and energy bills have driven producers out of the state and unemployment has skyrocketed to 9.3%. Still, they forge ahead with their job-killing regulations.
Politicians want to spend billions of taxpayer dollars to prevent foreclosures. They just don’t understand that the reason these people are in foreclosure is they can’t afford their homes. Ramsey Su points out that all these policies are going to do is create a generation of mortgage slaves. Rather than artificially propping up the housing bubble they should let the market correct itself.
Even Peggy Noonan’s gotten over her intense case of hopeandchange fever, noting that President Obama is squandering his high approval ratings by allowing the Democrats to craft a bill that is ”a big, messy, largely off-point and philosophically chaotic piece of legislation. ” Further, this bill is more about “pork… payoffs, and eccentric base-pleasing, group-greasing forays into birth control as stimulus.”
Someone needs to put the breaks on the government and do it quickly.

Many thanks to Websters Online–
“amok -a murderous frenzy that has traditionally been regarded as occurring especially in Malaysian culture.”
The word is actually of Malaysian origin, how interesting is that? Murderous frenzy stuck out for me. While the death will be slow and painful, it will be death by billions of cuts. Cuts in output of our economy, cuts to services, cuts to opportunity, all that bleeding is going right into the socialist pot of redistribution.
We can only hope LC, they get a case of tropical fever and jet off to HI for a couple of months while we try to right the capsized ship.
