If TARP was a crap sandwich what’s the new stimulus plan?

If TARP was a crap sandwich, the new socialism stimulus plan is a crap Manwich, or perhaps a crap footlong sub. The Wall Street Journal says “You won’t believe what’s in that stimulus bill.” It’s grotesque and the House is set to vote on it today.

We’ve looked it over, and even we can’t quite believe it. There’s $1 billion for Amtrak, the federal railroad that hasn’t turned a profit in 40 years; $2 billion for child-care subsidies; $50 million for that great engine of job creation, the National Endowment for the Arts; $400 million for global-warming research and another $2.4 billion for carbon-capture demonstration projects. There’s even $650 million on top of the billions already doled out to pay for digital TV conversion coupons. Read full story.

I asked Representative Thaddeus McCotter’s (R-MI) office whether President Obama brought Republicans to the table to listen to their input or charm them into supporting the stimulus plan. They were kind enough to reply that hopefully it was a bit of both and some changes were made to favor Republican positions.

I suppose he was referring to the president asking Nancy Pelosi to take birth control out of the bill. But $335 Million for STD prevention is still in there. I can think of a free way to prevent STD’s but they don’t seem to be interested. I can’t help but wonder if they included all of that aggregious pork so later they could take it out claiming “compromise.”

If it’s not too late, call your representative and say “no” to the crap Manwich! Click here for a list of phone numbers for each and every member of the House of Representatives.

So what’s that “free” way to eliminate all STDs? Please let us know.

Nate, are you serious? Have you ever heard of abstinence? Works every time. Not only does it prevent STD’s but unwanted pregnancies, too.

Oh, of course. Why didn’t I think of that. At least sex education is completely free, right? Because, y’know, education is so equal and all encompassing, from the rural farmlands to the urban cities. EVERYONE knows all the facts about sex. I’m glad we got that out of the way.

The reality is, and I’m not saying that that earmarked money is going to be spent correctly, but education about STDs and pregnancy IS important. Telling kids, “Don’t do it, unless you’re planning on having a kid” — and thinking that on this one issue everyone will listen — is the most idealistic stance imaginable. People are going to have sex, and they need education about the repercussions.

Again, I don’t know enough about that money to say how it’s going to be spent, but to imagine a world where the only people sexin’ it up are in a loving, committed relationship is, unfortunately, not a reality.

STD information is important. But it is not an emergency. It should be handled in regular spending sessions. Not this emergency bill!!! I am so angry that every time our legislators are given a chance, they screw the American people. How dare they put all this junk in a bill that is supposed to create jobs and save our economy. By the way, they’re cheating and stealing got us into this mess. I think the bill needs to be published and the people should be able to go line by line and see exactly what they are spending our hard earned money on. Shame on all of Congress. You guys have no honor.
