Surpisingly, ABC News noticed the huge price tag on Barack Obama’s inauguration during a deep recession. $49 million will come from the federal government. Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia are requesting $75 million from the federal government to cover security and medical services. So the American people will pony up $124 million for the festivities.
If you could the millions coming from Wall Street, we’re probably paying more than $124 million because some of the rich donors are also recipients of bailout funds. It looks like George Soros and his family are the biggest donors with their $250,000 contribution.
But we’re assured that no lobbyists were allowed to contribute, so rest easy, there’s no pay-to-play going on here. (wink)
