Thomas Sowell appeared with Glenn Beck this evening to talk about the crap sandwich the democrats are trying to feed us. Why don’t more people listen to Professor Sowell? He’s really smart and knows what he’s talking about. You don’t need to be a rocket scientist or a fiction writer to understand the man. There’s something to be said for common sense, but sadly it’s in short supply these days.
Glenn Beck also wonders where in the world are Chris Dodd’s mortgage papers. I know where mine are, I could produce them in a minute or less. Why has it taken Senator Dodd 190 days and he still hasn’t produced his mortgage documents? Yet he lectures the rest of us about greed. Incredible.

Glenn Beck is a breath of fresh air. Open and straight to the point. He says things on TV and radio that many of the other conservatist radio and TV reporters are too weak to say. Hope he continues in this manner and maybe, just maybe, he will be the first to dare mention the Obama eligibility to be POTUS issue. I hope some one somewhere will have the nerve to cover it on air.

What’s this common sense thing you speak of?

Heather, I was surprised at how much I like his new show. It’s great, isn’t it. Just plain old common sense. We need more of that! As far as the POTUS issue, I think they’re all too afraid of the constitional crisis it would cause.
Jeremy-you’re so coy!

Check out WSJ Opinions for Andrew Stuart Brown’s comment on Dodd’s mortgage papers. Hint: there’s another denizen of Capitol Hill who has problems remembering what he’s got and where it is.

Thomas Sowell has always been a champion of mine . This guy makes a great deal of sense, he is a true conservative.

Andrew, I couldn’t find your comment. I assume there’s some Republican who may have benefitted from Countrywide’s generosity to politicians. Regardless, it doesn’t make Chris Dodd any less immoral or hypocritical.

We are NOT on the road to socialism. Anyone who would make such a preposterous statement exposes the fact that they obviously don’t know much about socialism at all.
If we were on a bona fide road toward socialism, then the public (not Rupert Murdoch) would own the public airwaves — Faux News wouldn’t exist — and corporations would be held accountable for all their wrongdoings. Instead of having a paltry minimum wage, we’d have a robust LIVING wage. Workers would be encouraged to organize in unions and unions would actually be protected.

In the “Can’t see the forest for the trees” category, first prize goes to The Rambling Taoist.
Thomas Sowell is a genius, but a genius who knows how to communicate so that he can be understood. Much of what I know about economics I’ve picked up from him and Walter Williams.
Sadly, the fact that he is a black man actually hurts him, rather than helps him. Like Clarence Thomas, rather than being celebrated for his success, he is disdained by blacks.

Ok Rambling Taoist…you asked for it. Regarding you Feb 1st post: We ARE on the road to Socialism, you just obviously haven’t experienced the collapse of a Capitalist society before and therefore cannot see it coming. It is blind puppets like you who allow the Socialist regimes to take a foothold and become a reality.
TO WIT: Rupert Murdoch owns FOX News, not all the public airwaves. That is the gov’ts prey. The US gov’t is on track to own it via the recently reintroduced and badly misnamed ‘Fairness Doctrine’. Look it up.
TO WIT: Re-wind your TIVO back about 6-8 months and you can witness for yourself the wood-shed beatings of all of America’s greatest energy producers, auto-makers and bankers, thank you. Why? Because they came crawling to Uncle Sam when the AIRWAVES pronounced them all the demon’s of our current crisis due to expensive wastebaskets and shower curtains. Uncle Sam, as a NON-SOCIALIST should have sent them packing! But, instead welcomed the opportunity to ‘HELP the PEOPLE’.
TO WIT: A robust LIVING wage? Are you friggin’ kidding me? How robust do feel like living your life, Tao? Robust enough for a flat screen TV? A cool ride? 18yrs at Harvard? You tell me what a ROBUST living wage is and I’ll tell you what our gov’t thinks it is. It’s $7.55 an hour as of July 2009 in TX. Go robust that.
TO WIT: Ah, Unions. Unions have caused the decline of the American business. One of the main reasons for out-sourcing. Union’s had their time and place, about 150 years ago, but have become something else entirely in the 20th and the 21st centuries. Do a little reading. Unions take a HUGE chunk of every participants paycheck, to make ‘who’ rich? What do Unions do with ALL THAT MONEY? They don’t pay it back to workers. Otherwise unions wouldn’t benefit from the capitalist system. THEY are the ones exploiting the workers. AND causing an increase in price of the products produced. So that Union participant ultimately undermines the success of the company/business that PAYS HIS WAGE!! God forbid we should all be protected from the one who pays our wage. Unions are the dog biting the hand that feeds it. Not to mention the Lobbyists in WA screwing with the rest of our civil liberties. Perhaps in your next blog you could tell us exactly what Unions are protecting the workers from if Socialism is the order of the day.
So, Rambling…perhaps it is you who do not know about Socialism. Just wait a year or two, you are about to live it.

The fact that Rambling Taoist apparently believes what he/she said—and beleives that line of thinking to be somehow MORAL–is the best indicator that we’re well on our way to socialism, isn’t it? Tsk tsk.
I love Sowell too, he’s one of my ‘sane voices’.
