He promised change. He just forgot to mention that it’s his perogative to change his mind. Hot Air has an April 2008 quote from Mr. Obama saying “we must not negotiate with a terrorist group intent on Israels’ destruction.”
Today it’s reported that the Obama administration is considering opening up a dialogue with Hamas. Maybe Jimmy Carter can make the arrangements. Read about it here.
Someone scores very poorly on reading comprehension.
Let’s take the Hot Air headline first. Headlines aren’t sentences. It doesn’t say “Obama INTENDS To Talk With Hamas.” It simply states the subject of the story, which is “Plans.”
Does he? Doesn’t he? Let’s read the story together and find out.
“The Guardian has spoken to three people… there is NO TALK of Obama approving direct diplomatic negotiations…”
See that “no”? That word means no, as in NO.
“RICHARD HAASS, a diplomat under both presidents Bush… SUPPORTS…”
Now Richard supports talks, but does Obama? We don’t know.
“BRUCE, a counterterrorism expert at the Georgetown school of foreign service, said it was UNLIKELY…”
That looks like another “no” from Bruce.
But what about the third person the Guardian said they spoke with? Well, my guess is that the third person said “no,” too. Unfortunately we don’t know, because Hot Air, living up to its name, doesn’t even mention their third source. Bad reporting. But that’s okay, they have a conservative readership, so they can be as sloppy and inaccurate as they want. Their readers sure aren’t going to know the difference.

Andrew, I’ve had a theory about you. I believe you’re one of those “fight the smears” folks….a plant by the Obama camp. I believed you would disappear after the election. Which you did. Now that the annointing of your Messiah isn’t going as smoothly as you planned you are back to continue your fight. What’s wrong, afraid there’s going to be opposition to the One’s complete collectivist takeover of America?
Did you go right to the source – Hot Air – to complain about their reporting? If not, why not? (And if not, I can easily click on the link to see if ‘Andrew Brown’ left a comment.)

I don’t know if “fight the smears” folks are a real organization of some kind, but if they are, I’m not part of it. I don’t belong to any organizations, political or otherwise.
The reason I disappeared after the election is because I’ve been out of town (for work) since the end of November and I’ll be going back out again by tomorrow evening.
The President-Elect isn’t my messiah (nor is anyone else) and once he’s in office I expect I’ll probably be opposed to a good share of his decisions myself. I’m not a party man nor a hero worshipper.
… and since I’m not, I don’t see why I would trouble myself to go to Hot Air. They’re your source, not mine. How much time do you think I spend on this stuff? Anyone who spends more than five or ten minutes a day net-chatting about politics has too much time on their hands.
