In the video above Charles Krauthamer talks about Bush Derangement Syndrome and the record of President George W. Bush. Whether you agree or not with all of George W. Bush’s policies, it would be dishonest to say he’s not an honorable man. Regardless of opinion polls, he did what he believed was right. He gave a press conference this morning to say goodbye to the press and defend his record. Read transcript here. He’s a class act and he’s kept us safe, for that we should all be grateful.
On a related note, Fred Barnes lists the ten things George W. Bush got right. It’ll drive a lot of libs and even some conservatives mad, but he has an interesting take on things.

You know….George W. is so much more like America than America likes to admit. Just to hear him speak, no matter how stuttered, how unaffected, how ‘un-sophisticated’ his words come out…. he IS YOU and he IS AMERICA. I will miss a President who speaks as any one of us would under such deliberate, oppressive criticism and unfair and undermining politics. I feel ASHAMED that the left in our country has treated this man with such disrespect. From the Dixie Chicks to the attackers of Joe the Plumber. I have never heard a President of our country referred to as “Mr.” as many times as I have President Bush. I have heard Obama given the title of “President Elect” more often in the past 6 weeks than I have heard George W. Bush given the title of “President” in the past 6 months. If it were not for the D-E-V-I-S-I-V-E tactics of “Bush-Haters” (aka Poor Losers!) these past 8 years could have been the BEST years for our country. What if Congress back in the 1940′s had sided with Hitler during WW-II ? Would we have witnessed this last? Just let’s wait and see how much lee-way O-B-A-M-A is given when he must pick up the wand and carry it through to the finish. Will I trash Obama the way the P.L. (poor losers) did? I will if he does not fulfill the legacy of a true American President. Perhaps Obama should get down on his knees during his first night in the White House and PRAY to OUR GOD that he be given the fortitude to fill the shoes of the man whom he displaces. And I do not mean to ‘Thank God’ that a Black Man is now in the White House! For those who talk about race….screw you!!! This country is about MORE than RACE!!… It always has been. The race is not to see what color President can take the Office…but what KIND of MAN can see the legacy and carry it forward. Will Obama defend this country the way GW did? He FRIGGIN’ Better!!! Because if I hear one word of Rev Wright come out of his mouth I will fight to the death to IMPEACH his Ass!!!
The respect due to G.W. will be the neverending legacy of Obama’s White House. If he wishes to leave his own legacy, it will not come from his solving all the manufactured issues of his term, but will come from his being able to stand up to the LEFT and tell them that President Bush was Right!! Not the economic recovery, not the saving of the planet from global warming. But the saving of the reputation of a man more deserving than he. And, yes, that call will come in the middle of the night. Obama’s wake-up call. He will be awakened to the fact that GW was not in this for the glory, or the press, or even the appreciation of it all. He was in it for the truth that was laid out in the Declaration of Independance…and the truth that was laid out in the Bills Of Rights…and most of all for the RULES that were laid out in The Constitution. If Obama wanted socialism he should have run for office down in South America. But he better not try to bring it on here. He will be defeated. In the end he will be defeated.
I truly am sad that I cannot revel in the glory of our country electing it’s 1st black man as our President. I just truly believed that he would have been a more conservative man, who EARNED the job. As it is, I will have to listen to a man giving a speech on Jan. 20th that is written by a radical faction in this country. Because in my heart, and in my soul, I do believe that ‘Mr. Obama’ has not written any of the speeches he has given. And unlike Bush… it may be hard to criticize a man who doesn’t speak his own mind, but a man who speaks the mind of his speech-writers. Yes…I will miss the stuttering, the hesitations, the stammerings. But more than anything I will miss the humility. I will miss the humility.
