This crap sandwich may never find it’s way to the President’s desk. Democrats are now jumping off the stinking porkubus train. This throws a wrench in the White House plan to blame everything on republicans.
Feinstein hasn’t yet committed to voting against the bill, but she’s not exactly supportive either, and it’s a bad time to start losing Democrats. As David Gregory’s question subtly references, Barack Obama has accused critics of the plan for supposedly playing petty politics. Does Obama include Feinstein in that group? Gibbs has no germane response except babbling some tired slogans that have already failed to convince people that Obama knows what he’s doing. Full story/videos.
While no American should take pleasure in our President looking foolish, we can certainly take comfort in the fact that he may not get the chance to decimate what’s left of our economy this week.
Update 2/7/09: With the US Senate good news can turn bad in the blink of any eye. Thanks to turncoats Susan Collins, Olympia Snowe and Arlen Specter it looks like this nearly $1 trillion spending bill will pass the Senate. These three should be excommunicated from the Republican party. What a tragedy!
This morning’s Wall Street Journal provided another example of how this colossal spending bill is more about giving taxpayer dollars to democrat supporters than stimulating the economy. Providing funds to failing schools while denying funds to successful schools is not stimulutive and won’t do a damn thing to help the economy.

Leave it to those two Maine bubblehead Rinos and the Philly Rino to turn their backs on the good side. Even Voinovich didn’t like their deal, and noone ever accused him of being a right-winger.
