Although most Americans do not support the Democrats’ stimulus bill President Obama, in eternal campaign mode, wrote an op-ed to the Washington Post telling us to eat this crap sandwich or else.
Because each day we wait to begin the work of turning our economy around, more people lose their jobs, their savings and their homes. And if nothing is done, this recession might linger for years. Our economy will lose 5 million more jobs. Unemployment will approach double digits. Our nation will sink deeper into a crisis that, at some point, we may not be able to reverse.
What does he think happens after a recession? It’s called recovery, unless of course government actions prolong or deepen the recession. Was he too busy “doing a little blow” to attend his economics 101 and history 101 courses at Columbia? Oh yeah, he spent his time seeking out Marxist professors. Pardon me.
In recent days, there have been misguided criticisms of this plan that echo the failed theories that helped lead us into this crisis — the notion that tax cuts alone will solve all our problems; that we can meet our enormous tests with half-steps and piecemeal measures; that we can ignore fundamental challenges such as energy independence and the high cost of health care and still expect our economy and our country to thrive.
Those ‘misguided criticisms’ are howls over the mind numbing amount of pork the democrats are trying to pass off as economic stimulus. But at least the President tipped his hand, letting us know this really has nothing to do with the economy and everything to do with ramming through his radical liberal agenda.
I reject these theories, and so did the American people when they went to the polls in November and voted resoundingly for change. They know that we have tried it those ways for too long. And because we have, our health-care costs still rise faster than inflation. Our dependence on foreign oil still threatens our economy and our security.
President Obama has always rejected supply side economics. But his claim that the American people reject common sense economic theory is nothing but bunk. He won the election because people were fed up with the way Republicans spent our tax dollars. He also won promising to change the way business is done in Washington. He’s failing at bringing about change on both counts.
Every day, our economy gets sicker — and the time for a remedy that puts Americans back to work, jump-starts our economy and invests in lasting growth is now.
President Obama calls for a ‘remedy’ to put Americans back to work, yet fails to explain how one job will actually be saved or created by this grotesque spending bill. While some Americans truly believe in this guy, most were seriously just looking for ‘change’. Does he honestly believe Americans are stupid enough to think a group of beaureacrats who’ve never worked in the private sector can fix the economy?
We are in for a long four years.
