Ron Paul knocks it out of the park when it comes to the economy and capitalism. But Hot Air’s Allahpundit reminds us why Ron Paul didn’t have a chance at the GOP nomination (about 16 minutes into the speech.)

I do not find Paul’s speech to be that out of line. The million Iraqis may be incorrect, but U.S. policy has led to deaths around the world. Ask a Viet Nam Vet about U.S. policy. We could not stop the spread of communism in Asia nor can we stop the spread of Islam.
What we can do is strengthen our individual beliefs and stand up for them on a local basis.
He is right, Ron Paul’s policies are gaining strength and may well replace the jr. admin. from IL. I am not a global lover, I am a local thinker, so isolationism works for me.

He explains that Ron Paul is an Isolationist and that’s why he lost. There is a difference in Isolationist and Non-Interventionist. Isolationist means we do not have any contact with outside influence whatsoever. We don’t trade, we don’t send our troops, we don’t send foreign aid, we do NOTHING. That is Isolationism. Ron Paul promotes Non-interventionism, just as our forefathers did during the creation of our nation. During the Cold War, you could make a case for our foreign policy. In current times, our state of world police is bankrupting the country and causing us to lose respect with all nations around the world that we are trying to help to begin with. It is a counter-productive process. I’m not saying pulling every troop out of all other countries is necessary, but we shouldn’t be as extended as we are. Trust me, people in the military tend to agree with Ron Paul’s point of view.

While I tend to agree, we were much less interventionist prior to 9/11/01. Look where that got us.
