The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

The Good:

Things could be worse. Today the Dow only dropped 100 points. For a while it looked like it could have been a bloodbath when it plunged below 7300, so it’s good news it bounced back to a whopping 7365.67. (Probably because The One didn’t give any major economic speeches.) Since election day the Dow’s only down 2234 points. It’s not at 6000 (yet) so go out and celebrate!

America’s mayors lined up at the Porkulus trough to get their share. President Obama promised that the money is on it’s way, but if they waste it he’s going to be really, really, really mad.

Speaking of getting really mad, it seems American taxpayers are finally waking up to what our government’s up to. To the smell of roasted pork (courtesy of Michelle Malkin) our fellow comrades are staging rallies against The One and his Porkulus. Good for them! We’re all community organizers, now! There’s nothing like attacking people’s livelihood to rile them up.

The Bad:

Government spending is officially out of control. Spending by President Obama will eclipse spending by FDR and the New Deal. We’re still paying for the New Deal, who knows how we’re going to pay for the New New Deal. The government seems to be salivating over the idea of nationalizing the banks. Naturally bank stocks hit all new lows.

When it comes to foreign policy and energy policy The One and his administration seem to be living in the Land of Make Believe. We all know where that sort of thinking got us in the past. Let’s hope we don’t see another 9/11 or Pearl Harbor.

The Ugly

We were told America has moved beyond race and we’re now ‘post-racial’. Not everyone on the left got the memo. Attorney General Eric Holder accused Americans of being cowards when it comes to race. White House Majority Whip Jm Clyburn (D-SC) accused any Republican who opposed the Porkulus bill of being racist. What will it take to shut these people up? On second thought, I don’t want to know the answer to that question.

It’s too bad the left can’t finally move beyond the politics of race. The rest of us have.

Is Chris Dodd really enough of an idiot to make a comment about nationalizing banks (in the United States of America!—I NEVER thought I would hear that sentence in my lifetime)—-or are they actually doing this on purpose??? Schumer slobbers, you get banks tanking, Harry “slips” and insurance companies crash, Dodd is musing about nationalizing and stocks plummet (the Dow may have recovered, but individual stocks didn’t). Now, I know they are stupid. But are they really THAT stupid, or are they doing this for some reason that I can’t fathom? Is it to keep the panic going so they can continue to push things through at lightening speed? I’m thinking maybe that IS it—as long as there is panic, people seem willing to let these people do whatever horrible thing they want, AND they are distracted from all of the civil rights they are losing (as compared to the rights they IMAGINED they were losing over the last 8 years). I know it sounds conspiracy, but honestly: the “normal” Dems I know are thinking the same thing, that they’ve been hijacked by parties unknown and they are just aghast at these people for continually making things worse.

And here’s some frank discussion about race for Eric Holder: I am 44, never experienced segregation where I live and I am sick to death of Black History Month. It started as a history WEEK when I was in high school. I questioned it then and I question it now: until every nationality gets a history month, CAN IT. I’m TIRED of it. My generation is tired of YOUR generation’s racial hangups. We got over it, it’s time you do too. How’s that? Blech, what a nasty week.

Think about it, I have heard the following argument made and beleive it to have merit:
Its like what magicians do, they distract you with one hand and swap the coin with the other. Its misdirection. While we are complaining about condoms in the stimulus package they slide through socialized medicine. Watch behind the curtains with these guys. If they are talking about nationalizing banks they are working something else in behind the scense. They are masters of misdirection. Don’t fall for it, watch the hands.

I asked a friend who’s a Dem what she thought of Obama’s first month. She said “He’s doing better than President Bush.” Yet this same friend said she’s way too busy to follow what our government is doing, watch the news or find out information on line. But she feels informed enough to know “He’s doing better than Bush.”

I wanted to bang my head on the wall.

Yes, Robert & AWM—I absolutely believe that to be true. If you study history with other radical groups making radical changes (Hitler is a perfect example), they keep the panic stoked and find someone for everyone else to turn against and blame everything on(Jews…Wall Street investment bankers…). They keep the population in an absolute panic while they push through enormous, history-making changes–while the population is in that psychological place where “nationalizing the banks” sounds perfectly reasonable. They count on the populace to be unedcuated in the way these things work, resentful of the rich, and hating groups of each other so that what they are REALLY doing is unnoticed. If things start to get better (stock prices), they come out and repeat the propaganda to drive it back into the toilet. Josef Goebbels would be SO PROUD of these people.

I’ll take a page from the left and say something that will sound just like them: these are evil people. These are people who have an agenda that’s all about destroying our way of life, because they believe that socialism is moral and “we will just do it better” than it’s been done before. Barack Obama, ze One (“BOZO”) and pals have had this agenda in place for decades and, as Rahm Emmanual says, a crisis is a terrible thing for a president to waste. I just can’t believe so many of my fellow countrymen are SO STUPID. I had started to resign myself to the idea that these terrible people would be in charge for four years, and started to recover….now I’m back to that terrible place I woke up in on November 4th. I’m not sure how much of this damage we will be able to reverse. I’m already ready for the revolution….

Daneen, you’re exactly right. Robert is too, they are trying to distract us. Obama’s actions show us that he really doesn’t give a crap about our country. He’s flying around on the taxpayer dime stoking people’s fears. Has he even made a public comment about Iran’s ability to build a nuclear bomb? Not that I’ve heard. He doesn’t care. He’ll make noises like he does but we all know he doesn’t. This gang has just two goals. Socialism and one-party rule in this country. The stimulus package doled out BILLIONS to groups like ACORN to help them with goal #2, the rest of it goes to goal #1.

I think those of us in the conservative group (whether you call yourself a Republican, a Libertarian, an Independant, or just a lone voice) need to get it together. We need to build that “movement” that Obama built—all that technology devoted to a central place where they could all gather & become a united force. I know some of us disagree, as well, with the Republican party from time to time (or maybe always)—-but it’s what we’ve got right now and we need to use it. If the Fairness Doctrine slips into place, communication amongst ourselves will be more difficult—-that is also about isolating us. If there is no place we can “gather” to hear conservative opinion and plans, that also places us at a disadvantage, makes us feel we’re all alone out here and what can we really accomplish as one person? That’s not a coincidental side effect of ‘fairness’. I want to see Michael Steele build a place where we can go to hear our beliefs and values validated; I don’t want to see us give up in defeat because our voices–to each other–are drowned out by the Left or constricted by new laws that make it harder to voice and listen to opinion. He has GOT to get up to speed on the internet and how to use it effectively; there are a lot of conservative young people out here (kids! Kids who automatically get it and laugh at the One for being so transparent and naive). Those kids, frankly, aren’t going to go to a dry, boring, out of step GOP website. They aren’t going to watch a cautious, politically correct message. The left did understand how to use the bling. How do we push this? How do we get it together?! I’ve got my boots on this morning and am ready to go, I JUST DON’T HAVE A MAP!

Isn’t it ironic that all these anti-establishment types just elected the biggest establishment by putting the Democrat party (and the radical left wing of that party) in control? And the establishment seeks to control their lives. I’m hoping that the kids who couldn’t vote this time around are paying attention. If so they’ll realize that they are the ones who will pay for all of this. And they’ll pay dearly.

I’m still in my sweatpants and I don’t have a map either.
