The New American Tea Party – Updated

February 24, 2009
By 18 comments

After Rick Santelli sounded off last week about President Obama’s plans to bailout out losers, JP Freire joined up with some of our fellow citizens to organize The New American Tea Party. The idea took off, and protests are planned around the nation. The site provides information on planned events and helpful tips for organizing a protest in your neighborhood. According to Mr. Friere the Tea Parties are run by people who have never participated in a protest before!

Mr. Freire appeared this morning with Megyn Kelly on Fox News.

If anyone in the Central, NY area is interested in helping to organize a protest here, send me an email at LonelyConservative@Yahoo.com. We can plan it for Rep. Dan Maffei’s next visit to the area he now calls home, or we can have a tea party outside our state legislators’ local offices. I’ll even srping for some pulled pork sammies from the Dinosaur Bar B Que! There’s no sense sitting around moping, why not throw a party and have a little fun!?

If you’re planning a Tea Party in some other part of the nation or state, please let me know, I’d love to hear about it.

Update: See comment below. I mistakenly attributed the idea to Mr. Freire, when in fact many people had the same idea at once.

Just the pulled pork along should be enough to entice a few reluctant tea partiers!

I need to be clear. Much as I appreciate the kudos, this did not originate with me. Lots of ppl had the same thought at once.

I think know in one of my comments I had said that I and a few people I know plan on putting one together in a month or so! This is so neat others around the nation are doing the same! Have we had enough? I think so!

I have serious constraints, too—-I’m wondering if those of us who can’t organize or join one in person can do something really creative with video on YouTube; I’m thinking the MSM won’t give all the coverage protests deserve, anyway, and if enough videos hit YouTube, that could work really well. I may explore this for my own family—may be only 6 of us in the front yard with ham sandwiches, but with the right music blasting and the right signs visible, the message is there. I’m going to suggest that to friends who can’t make one live and in-person. Better than nothing.

Daneen – go to right.org (I think that’s it, I posted their video contest message the other day). They have a contest for the best video opposing the bailout. The prize is about $29,000, or your share of the Porkulus-CRAPulus-suckubus bill. Not counting the TARP – AWM ;)

William, how’s your governor? Blech!! I’m thinking a good day for a Tea Party is July 4. Most of our congressman and senators will be back ‘home’ bragging about all the pork their bringing home.

My governor…. Sibelius? She is another turd who might be going to help Obamas agenda to systematically have government take over everything. My guy on the inside told me a couple days ago that he just dropped off Brownback at the white house because Obama wanted to speak with him. Hope ole Brownback can get him turned around. Have you heard ole William Ares is not real happy with his clone. He says Obama is doing some of the things that caused Ares to have to blow up things. How funny.

Ayers must be so disappointed in his disciple, especially after helping him write those books that brought him such fame and wealth.

I doubt Brownback or anyone else can turn Obama around. He’s frightening.

I have to get back to work…I doubt I’ll be the recipient of any porkulus funding.

Well, I think I am going to try to make it to the Tea party in Kansas tomorrow! I will be dropping this web site to everyone I talk to. I am dropping all my plans and heading out there to get some like minded people to see if we cannot put something bigger and better together. The time is now while everyone is motivated to take our country back and to let OUR voices be heard since our elected choose not to read their e-mails and answer their calls! I will also be bringing with me my 4 children each holding a sign that they made saying “Dont steal our future” and “Don’t take away our piggy banks for your porkulus!”

William – That’s awesome! I wish there was a protest around here. I’m going to see if a few of my friends locally want to arrange one for July 4th.

And thanks for the free publicity! Every bit helps and is greatly appreciated.

After 8 years of doing nothing you are now protesting? Why did you do nothing when Bush dug us into this hole? Shame on you.

I wish we could have some tea parties here in Columbus, GA and west central Alabama.
If we do nothing….the socialists win.

Let’s all send a tea bag plus a letter explaining it to all our good friends, President B.O., as well as our Senators and Congresspuppets, telling of our discontent and that “We’re just not going to take it anymore!” Email that to everyone you know and WHO KNOWS!!!
If enough USPS clerks get tired of the tea bags, the AP and all the “Drive-By Media” will have to report it, won’t they? Or you could just keep feeling bad about things and doing nothing!

The “BushWhackers” are just a bit short on recent memory is all. Blaming Bush for everything is very short sighted and naive! Everyone is so upset about a 1.4 Trillion deficit over 8 years. Sounds pretty good when compared to the Obama and company 3.7 Trillion in 60 days. I shudder to imagine what it will be after next years budget round…..
