President Obama graced us with his first White House press conference this evening. First he told us how much we suck, and we need him to save us. He forgot to mention that the job losses didn’t start to snowball until after the election. Employers realized what they were in for and the pink slips started flying.
The One even had the nerve to mention our children and grandchildren. Is he kidding?!?! He’s trying to spend another trillion dollars on pork and he’s worried about our children and grandchildren!?!? I’m sure his children will be just fine, I’m not so confident about the rest of us.
He went on to repeat the tired line about the failed policies of the last eight years. No surprise there. He just doesn’t seem to get that the policies he thinks failed (tax cuts) are the only things that kept us afloat. He wants to repeat the failures, not only of the last 30 years, but the last three months.
We tried TARP, didn’t help. We tried sending out “rebate checks” to Americans, didn’t work. So what’s the President want to do….more of what didn’t work.
The spin really began when the President took the hard hitting questions from the press. Oh sorry, my bad. They save their hard hitting questions for Robert Gibbs’s mid-afternoon press conferences when nobody’s listening.
When asked about bi-partisanship we were told that bad habits in Washington are hard to break. What he really meant is that Washington needs to be a one-party town and Rahm and the Census Bureau will be working on that shortly.
Mr. Obama then said he disagrees with those who argue that the federal government has no business getting involved in energy policy, health care and education. Perhaps he should go back and read that pesky little Constitution he swore to uphold and defend.
We were reminded for the umpteenth time that he inherited the deficit and economic crisis. As if he and his party had no hand in either. Regardless, he thinks what we need is even larger deficits.
Chuck Todd, of all people, probably asked the toughest question of The One when he asked “Didn’t we get into this mess by spending too much?” The One’s reply was so drawn out and full of twists and turns that it’s hard to remember what he said. Something about how we need to save, but we need to spend and it’s the greedy banks that got us into this mess.
Major Garrett from Fox News asked what Vice President Joe Biden meant when he said there’s a 30% chance of failure. After a chuckle and some ers and ahs there was another long answer that I don’t recall.
One reporter even had the nerve to ask him what he thinks about A-Rod’s admission that he used steroids once. It’s surprising that he didn’t demand the ball player be brought up before Congress.
When it comes to foreign policy The One was baffling. There were some more ers and ahs, when it comes to Iran he talked of “mistrust built up over years.” Helen Thomas came up with a great question. “Do you think Pakistan provides safe haven for these ‘so called’ terrorists.” He said Pakistan is a key ally in the Middle East. Nobody asked him why he’s ordered our military to bomb their villages. Now that would have been interesting.

Afer reading this drivel, I’m not surprised that you’re lonely. Obama was brilliant — in sharp contrast to Dubya’s incoherence at his news conferences. And Obama appeared today at a town hall where the audience wasn’t pre-screened — another departure from Bush practice.

…”Obama was brilliant”… maybe to a one eyed constipated lime marshmallow. Pat, get yourself some PHILLIPS it’s gentle on the system.

I’m wondering if I was watching the same news conference Pat was! Brilliant? What an absolute joke! He babbled the entire time. He is in so far over his head and he knows it. The empty suit was a failure last night and no one knew it anymore than he did. I loved “Good night, guys” and abruptly leaving the podium. Bet he smoked a pack of cigarettes out back after he left.

laura: My sentiments exactly. The only thing that they do well is bashing Bush. They are relentless in their pursuit to blame him for Obama not being able to walk the walk. Reagan was handed a recession….cut taxes…and turned the economy around. If Obama is as brilliant as they say, this should be a no brainer for him.

Hi Pisces Lady,
The only reason The One gives a hoot about the economy is that he needs money to ram his socialist agenda down our throats.
What a nightmare!

Rush Limbaugh has Obama pegged! He wants to BE president, not DO president. This monstrosity of a bill is scary. Not too many have mentioned that it actually contains the beginnings of National Health Care. There are provisions to create a federal medical board to look at the cost of treatment vs the patient’s life expectancy…Obama is not just in over his head, he has gone down for the third time and the Bay Watch Beauties are no where in sight to safe his drowning butt. God Bless America, but I fear we are doomed.

It is very scary. Some of saw it coming but it still doesn’t change the horror of watching it all unfold.
I covered the healthcare thing this morning. We have a bunch of maniacs running the government.
Later I’ll do a post about how they’re undoing welfare reform with this bill. It’s grotesque.
