Sorry to bother you with techie stuff, but I need to rant. Internet Explorer 7 was my old browser. I had problems with it. It was slow and sometimes it would just quit responding. I don’t know if it’s Windows Vista that was causing the problems, but anyway….I decided to “upgrade” to IE8. It seems I went from bad to worse.
Images are now fuzzy making me feel drunk. After about an hour I developed a headache, kind or like a migraine – right behind my eyes with a dash of nausea mixed in for a little fun. There’s an option to make all sites appear in compatability mode, or something like that. I chose that option. It was a little better but not much.
Finally I switched from the PC to the laptop which still has IE7 and doesn’t have Vista. The problem is, I can’t use the laptop for my day job. The good thing is, the laptop has Windows XP so I don’t have problems with IE7.
Has anyone else “upgraded” to IE8 and had similar problems? If so, could you fix it? If not I might uninstall and go back to crappy old IE7.

Some videos will only play in IE, so use Firefox and switch to IE for those videos that require IE. Don’t set either one as your default and you should be able to switch back and forth. I guess it all boils down to how bad you don’t like IE

I use Open Office rather than MS. As does AKA I use Firefox also Thunderbird instead of Outlook.
Never had a video which will not play in Firefox. Not sure why they would not play. Are you talking about WMV in Windows Media Player?
When you have time give Mozilla a whirl.

When I tried Firefox no videos would play. Not Youtube or any of the news sites. I guess I’ll try to deal with IE8. It isn’t much faster. I’ve already had to close it out and reopen once today because it stopped responding. Grrrrrrr!

youtube would not work because you need to install flash for Firefox.
you can get it here:

Oh, hate to pile on, but today I caved in and downloaded FireFox. My IE 7, for no reason, just was running slower and slower…it was becoming an agony (I could walk away and feed dogs, load the washer, make a sandwich while waiting for a page to load). FireFox is wicked fast! Only bobble I had was that I had to download & save the Adobe players, close FireFox & install from the program file but that worked just fine and I can’t BELIEVE how much faster this is. Read a lot of crappy opinion on IE8, and the (very cut) net techie at office said FireFox hands down.
I will do whatever Very Cute Net Techie says…..

I’ll have to try that again. Not tonight though. Norton’s running, slowing me down to a stand still. I think I’ll go relax for a change and read a book while Norton does its thing.

I don’t know what IE 8 Beta is, but I have IE 8.06.crappy.I.wannabe.A.browser.18702
I actually got this via the Automatic Updates in XP.
Vista is so Bad I canned it during install and loaded XP instead, if anyone asks I tell them to use an OS that actually works LIKE Linux OR Unix.
“Microsoft” is a Question not an Answer, Just say NO!
The more I work with any Microsoft Software the more headaches I get, when is Microsoft monopoly going to look out for the man that supports them?
Every piece of software Microsoft creates is not developed with End User in mind, it;s for profit.
Dump your Microsoft headaches and Get Linux it’s FREE! and made for the End User not vice versa.
Ask Microsoft why they have so may complaints – they say it’s the End User it’s not Microsoft’s fault.
I REALLY WISH I had enough money to educate the world on Linux or Unix.
Cheers
