Obama Snubbed Major Newspapers During Second Presser

President Obama’s second press conference was more boring than the first. One interesting tidbit is that he didn’t take questions from the nation’s major newspapers.

But in quite a departure from the first presser — and White House protocol — Obama skipped over the nation’s top newspapers. Indeed, there were no questions from the NY Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal or USA Today. That might not sit well with the already insecure newspaper industry.

In exchange, Obama opened things up to a wider variety of outlets, including  Spanish-language television, a military news outlet, and black-oriented media. It’s another example of the White House going over the typical Washington press corps “filter.”

Here’s the list: Jennifer Loven (AP), Chuck Todd (NBC), Jake Tapper (ABC), Chip Reid (CBS), Lourdes Meluza (Univision), Kevin Baron (Stars and Stripes), Ed Henry (CNN), Major Garrett (Fox News), Mike Allen (POLITICO), Kevin Chappell (Ebony), Ann Compton (ABC Radio), Jon Ward (Washington Times) and Stephen Collinson (AFP).

Is he just filtering the news, or does he just figure that if the newspapers become non-profits they can’t endorse him anyway?

He probably didn’t have his teleprompter handy and knew the Hispanic and black media would toss him softball questions.

This morning I heard that the teleprompter was a big TV screen scrolling the words. Drudge has a photo up right now – 9:18 AM ET.

Little Barry can’t take the heat, especially since the MSM appears(except MSNBC and NBC) to be waking up…and yes the Teleprompter was replace by a 70 inch flat screen TV place just below the camera, making it look like His Majesty was looking us all in the eye.
