Did you stay up to watch President Obama’s appearance on the Tonight Show? I didn’t, but I did get a preview.

How nice for him, that he’s living such a carefree life! Not a care in the world besides his Secret Service detail. Oh yeah, and let’s get back to the values that built America. Maybe he should read a history book or two to find out what those values really are. I don’t think making fun of the disabled falls into that category.

What are the American values he speaks of? Socialism? Bailouts? Rewarding failure? Excessive taxation? Surely those aren’t the values our Founders lived by.

…”Waters also has pushed the administration to adopt her Edible Schoolyard project in which children plant their own produce to eat in the school cafeteria.”…

I wonder if it has occurred to these people that garden fresh produce is produced during the summer……………. when school is out???

So…i have two brothers who are in wheelchairs and one of them has participated in Special Olympics. So while the comparision from his bowling score to those olympics could be considered funny to some..maybe even most…it was tactless. The entire admistration is tactless.

(by the way, it is very possible that my brother’s would’ve laughed at the comment because they are very cool kids and refuse to act like victims of their disability…but i am well aware that not everyone can laugh off a slight such as that man made.)

    First off.
I used to help with the Special Olympics in the Wichita area at WSU where my grandfather used to be a coach. It is the greatest thing on earth to see all these wonderful people enjoy such a great day. Win or lose they all have the feeling of accomplishment and pride it’s a day full of hugs and it’s really a shame that people who do not have a disability do not react the same way these people. If you ask me fighting in sports and acting like a baby only occurs in the sports that non-disabled are in. We should all take time out of our lives to learn how we SHOULD react in victory and loss!

William, I’m working on getting something going here in Syracuse for April 15. As far as Obama’s comments, Sarah Palin had this to say:

“I was shocked to learn of the comment made by President Obama about Special Olympics,” Governor Palin said. “This was a degrading remark about our world’s most precious and unique people, coming from the most powerful position in the world.

“These athletes overcome more challenges, discrimination and adversity than most of us ever will. By the way, these athletes can outperform many of us and we should be proud of them. I hope President Obama’s comments do not reflect how he truly feels about the special needs community.”

All I have to say is that if BO has the time (and money to spend on the trip) to come & speak to such a large audience vi-sa-vi the “Late Show” than perhaps he can capture the OTHER HALF of the country’s attention by appearing on Rush’s radio show to answer some even tougher questions, other than “How’s your bowling score?”

Remember the show Wings…that guy was singing “my dog knows the bowling score, hallelujah”….now we sing “my pres knows the bowling score halleluja!”

Obie Wan Kanobie won’t go on Rush, but maybe he’ll send Robert Gibbs in his place.
