Central New Yorkers may get a glimpse of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin late this spring, if all goes as planned.
Without William Seward there might not be a state of Alaska, which explains why Gov. Sarah Palin wants to travel to his upstate New York hometown to help celebrate 50 years of Alaska statehood.
The former Republican vice presidential candidate has tentatively scheduled a visit to Auburn on June 6 to take part in a Founder’s Day celebration organized by the Seward House.
“We were told she would very much like to come … as always, we’re told her schedule is subject to revision,” said Auburn lawyer T. David Stapleton, who sits on the Seward House board.
“We hope the stars align and she can fit it into her schedule,” he said Wednesday.
A celebration of Seward’s Folley! How fun!

I’m sorry. I’m not a radical but Sarah Palin is basically anti-wildlife when it comes to comes to endangered species in Alaska. I think its lame to invite her just because she’s connected to Alaska. If anyone cares about polar bears, beluga whales, etc. please understand your groups such as Defenders of Wildlife and many others have been fighting her for a while. Couldn’t we ask someone else to come to Founder’s Day?? I have lived here for a quarter of a century and love Auburn’s rich history. My children were a part of Living History players. They’re all grown now so next is showing my grandchildren Auburn sites. I love talking people I work with into visiting the Seward House, Case Museum, the Agriculture Museum, Fort Hill Cemetary, Willard Chapel. I hope whoever is planning this reconsiders what a negative this is for responsible environmental supporters. Auburn is a great place to live. I really hope someone thinks this matters. Thank you.

You Liberals are so out of touch with reality. It is people like Governor Palin, who are actually good for wild life. Would you extremists wild lifer’s like to see animals starve & suffer a painful death or would you like to see the proper control of wild life on land? Hunters are true conservationists.
