Observations from a conservative in a blue state. With a little help from my friends!
During my 30 years employment as an engineer, I’ve seen the power and influence of unions shrink and the power and influence of management grow. In this process the plight of the workers has worsened.
Prior to that time, Unions had become corrupt and did not represent the workers interests well. Power was allowed to be taken away from the Union leaders in hopes that management would do the “right thing”.
It is once again obvious how foolish that hope is. It might be equally foolish to trust the unions again, but it is very clear that doing nothing is the wrong thing to do.
It seems there is no one left to represent the worker’s and general public’s interest, not the unions, not the management, not the politicians … then who??
