Next week there’s a tax tea party in Rochester, New York. I hate to miss it but our accountant will be here to do our taxes. So I had to laugh when I saw in the paper this morning that there was a protest in Syracuse by people demanding HIGHER TAXES! Yes, you read that right. I just have to laugh at this stuff or I’ll lose my mind.
A group of almost 300 Central New York students, teachers, health care workers and community advocates rallied this afternoon to urge Gov. David Paterson to abandon plans to slash funding for social services, schools, hospitals and nonprofit groups, and instead close the state’s $14 billion budget gap by raising taxes on the wealthy.
Concerned residents flooded into the Second Olivet Baptist Church in Syracuse, holding signs that read “Save lives, Save health care” and “Not on the backs of working families.” They sang “We shall overcome,” and chanted “Hey, ho, these cuts have to go.”
The group wants state officials to raise income taxes on wealthy New Yorkers rather than cut funding to programs that serve struggling residents and families.
Why don’t they just carry signs that say “RICH PEOPLE – LEAVE NEW YORK NOW! WE REALLY DON’T WANT YOU HERE!”

Works real well in California, doesn’t it. The taxpayers are all moving to Nevada and Arizona. How far are New Jersey, Connecticut and Penn. from N.Y.?
