Big Turnout Expected for Syracuse, NY Tax Day Tea Party

Note: This post is from 2009! For information on the Tax Day Tea Party 2010 click here.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Joanne Wilder earlier today about the Tax Day Tea Party in Syracuse, NY. I called to volunteer to help out in any way I can. According to Joanne our little tea party is turning into quite an event. Joanne believes there will be at least 2,000 people in attendance, if not more.

She will be interviewed by the local newspaper, The Post Standard, tomorrow for a piece that will appear next week. She has also been in contact with the local cable news station, News 10 Now. She hasn’t heard back from any of the local network affiliates. She’s also been interviewed by the hosts of a popular local music station. It’s nice to see the Tea Party is getting some media attention, even if the network stations choose to ignore it.

We’ll be meeting with the Syracuse Police Department early next week. There are concerns that activist groups like ACORN are going to start trouble.

The Tea Party protest is scheduled for Wednesday April 15 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at the Federal Building – 100 South Clinton Street, Syracuse, NY.

I will attend 2 parties on the 15th. The first in Norwich NY at 9:00am and Syracuse NY at 11:30am. The borrowing and spending has to stop at both the state and federal level. Our great country is under attack from within and we need to stop it now. WE ARE NOT A SOCIALIST COUNTRY. WAKE UP CITIZENS BEFORE IT IS TO LATE!

I’ll be there !!! I don’t expect any local coverage unless ACORN people ask for coverage.

This is a great way to get people finally involved. To all the good folks on the fence about showing up, please be there !!

Glad to hear there is also a tea party in Norwich!!! We were going to go to the one in Syracuse, but as we live in Earlville, it will be good to have our voices heard real close to home! Sorry we can’t attend both like some folks, but our hopes are that the turnout in all venues will be notable. We are really happy to have a chance to be counted. I hope everyone that feels disenfranchised gets out there tomorrow. It will be so worth the effort. I’m making my sign right now!

I would have driven to Norwich if there was no tea party in Syracuse! I’m watching channel 9, nothing so far about the tea paties, nothing in their list of top stories. My mother said Channel 5 mentioned it earlier, almost in passing.

    See you there:-)

Fellow Americans..How to fix CONGRESS and maybe New York State as well:

    1. Term Limits: 12 years only, one of the possible options below.
    A. Two Six year Senate terms
    B. Six Two year House terms
    C. One Six year Senate term and three Two Year House terms
Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

    2. No Tenure / No Pension:
A congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.
Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.
    3. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security:
All funds in the Congressional retirement fund moves to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, Congress participates with the American people.
Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, server your term(s), then go home and back to work.

    4. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan just as all Americans.
Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

    5. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.
Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.
    6. Congress looses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.
Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

    7. Congress must equally abide in all laws they impose on the American people.
Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.
    8. All contracts with past and present congressmen are void effective 1/1/11.
The American people did not make this contract with congressmen, congressmen made all these contracts for themselves.
Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.
