Cutting Corners on National Security

There aren’t enough hours in the day to try to cover everything the Obama administration and the democrats are doing. But before I retire for the evening I feel the need to bring you the news of Obama’s cuts to the Pentagon budget.

With all the money they’re spending on everything under the sun one would think they could at least sustain spending for National Security. But no, that’s the one area where they are perfectly willing, make that eager, to make cuts.

After a $700B bailout, a $150B “sweetener” to the bailout, a $787B stimulus and another $410B added to the FY 2009 budget (because President Bush was just too stingy), all on top of a $3 trillion original budget, the gang that can only add decided to subtract. Next year’s federal budget of about $3.7 trillion just doesn’t have room to keep all of today’s Defense programs going.

So far, no surprise. President Obama asked for a 10% cut. Barney Frank asked for a 25% cut. The Communist Party USA asked for a 50% cut. And Defense Secretary Robert Gates is starting to deliver.

But here is the part of the story that got me. While Secretary Gates said he consulted closely with President Obama, he limited outside advice “because of the scope and significance of the changes.”

Enjoy the logic here. As long as changes are small in scope and insignificant, those in charge will gladly listen to many voices. But when we’re talking large and significant changes, then, well, they need to sort it out with just a few of the top guys, including Obama himself.

Welcome to Obama World. It’s a scary place.

Speaking of national security, Sarah Palin released a statement blasting Obama on his missile defense cuts. She’s right, so you definitely won’t hear about her statement from the main stream media. Good thing we didn’t elect that Alaskan hick to be a heart beat from the presidency. National security is just so passé.

Now-Now-take it easy, what’s with the Fuss!. Obama says we are a gentler, kinder, more forgiving American. The world loves Obama, and is looking forward to this “change” also–one big happy family, so what’s the need for more “Bullets”? Korea probably lauched that missile before they knew “The Great Healer” was the Prez.!!
