Now it’s official. The Department of Homeland Security is targeting conservatives. I first heard about this this morning. When I got to my desk Drudge had a headline linking to a Washington Times article that’s not available.
Michelle Malkin did a great job reporting on this and she has a link to the PDF DHS report. The only thing on that report that’s showing up for me is the cover/title page. Michelle Malkin had this to say about this “embarrassingly shoddy piece of propaganda” and DHS’s response to her inquiry:
They were very defensive – preemptively so – in asserting that it was not a politicized document and that DHS had done reports on “leftwing extremism” in the past. I have covered DHS for many years and am quite familiar with past assessments they and the FBI have done on animal rights terrorists and environmental terrorists. But those past reports have always been very specific in identifying the exact groups, causes, and targets of domestic terrorism, i.e., the ALF, ELF, and Stop Huntingdon wackos who have engaged in physical harassment, arson, vandalism, and worse against pharmaceutical companies, farms, labs, and university researchers.
By contrast, the piece of crap report issued on April 7 is a sweeping indictment of conservatives. And the intent is clear. As the two spokespeople I talked with on the phone today made clear: They both pinpointed the recent “economic downturn” and the “general state of the economy” for stoking “rightwing extremism.” One of the spokespeople said he was told that the report has been in the works for a year. My b.s. detector went off the chart, and yours will, too, if you read through the entire report – which asserts with no evidence that an unquantified “resurgence in rightwing extremist recruitment and radicalizations activity” is due to home foreclosures, job losses, and…the historical presidential election.
Click here to read Malkin’s full post which includes text from the document that appears to be no longer available.
In a nutshell, they’re saying that any American who believes our politicians should uphold the Constitution of the United States of America is a radical extremist. Lord help us!
Update: DHS even had the gall to include the American Legion in this report. Click here to read the Legion’s response.

Illegal alien criminal gangs, Muslim extremists, terrorists of all stripe from all over the world, no problem. It’s those horrible Christians and Conservatives we have to fear. Some of them don’t vote Democrat. Tyrany is on its way. Long live the Thugocracy of the left. Acorn rules!

Thug-ocracy, Zorro, that’s great.
I posted the Virginia Fusion Terror report a few days ago and it was a real one. Over hundred pages long if I remember correctly and geared toward actual extremist. They classified Eco-Terrorist and Anti-Abortion Terrorist ahead of right wing extremists as potential threats.
Now tell me how the DHS sees us as more of a threat than VA. VA has a lot of good ole boys and was home to the Confederacy which they point out in their report.
This is scapegoating.
As I have said before, LC, this worries me. Seems like they are building up to an event, which they will blame on right wing. Classic fascism set up of a scapegoat.

Just learned about this site. My site (www.lonelypamphleteer.com) was established December 2003,
Have been comenting on the left’s neo-authoritarianism for years. (As it happens, LPR current remarks on
latest propaganda from the NY Times — calling it the semi-official newspaper of the left.)
Have also been remarking on effectiveness of Republican or conservative or populist response to the left.
By populist, I mean in the sense of Madison’s counsel in the first half of Federalist 57, brilliantly summed up
at the concllusion of Lincoln’s remarks, November 19, 1863.
These days, as I understand it, “populist” is just another term for demagogue, or rabble-rouser. My reading of Madison
is that populism is, as Lincoln summed it up, just gov ernment, of, by and for the people.
I have personal reason to know that in NYC ( proboably all over, includsing D.C.) we have government of, by and for the insiders
This, to me, is government by neo-aristocrats (who take an authoriotarian approaoch). See the first l;ine to Federalist 57 which
recognizes that we have people who seek the “ambitious sacrifice of the many to the aggrandizement of the few” Firther in this document, leaders are advised to work for the common good and stay close to the people. I believe that advice is not quite followed today.
With regard to the report Ms. Malkin has called to our attention -it is not clear to me just who the “right-wing extremists” are.
But there they go again, demagoging, as any authoritarian does. .

Well, during the Bush era and the warrantless wiretapping and violations of Constitutional protection against warrantless searches, the neo-coonservatives were fond of proclaiming “if you’ve done nothing wrong, then you’ve nothing to worry about”.
-
Shouldn’t that same mindset hold true today? Or has the morbidity of hypocrisy come home to the practitioners of that black craft?
-
So, what’s the problem? Take it like real men and quit whining.

Couple the left’s agenda with an army of lawyers and this is what we get.
We DO NOT advocate the violent overthrow of the government. However, we do not take out of control spending and the trashing of the Constitution lightly.
Don’t Tread On Me!

Hi All! The trolls are active lately. Maybe they’re worried these tea parties are a little more important than the MSM is letting on.
What a busy day I’ve had. Thanks for all the comments (except for the trolls!)
