Re: Tea Party Mobile Phone Network
As part of the effort to build a national network of activists fighting against the taxing, spending and borrowing coming out of Washington and – in many cases – our state capitals, Let Freedom Ring and the Institute for Liberty have partnered to collect the mobile telephone numbers of as many people who attend the April 15 Tea Parties as possible.
This is a major national undertaking benefiting organizers and attendees alike.
The first project of this mobile network will be a petition that will be delivered to the President, to each participating attendee’s congressional delegation and to Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, showing that there is real opposition to the Obama Administration’s agenda to tax, spend and borrow America into a period of long-term economic decline.
We are asking that you, as a local Tea Party organizer, announce several times during your Tea Party that attendees can send a message to Washington by texting the words “Tea Party” to 74362 on their mobile phones. In exchange, Let Freedom Ring and the Institute for Liberty will provide you access to the list of numbers collected at the Tea Party you organized and led.
Our two groups want to help you build your movement in your community.
Attendees at your Tea Party who sign up for this service will receive messages from the Institute for Liberty and other National Tax Day Tea Party organizers after the Tax Day events, with instructions on how to participate in additional events.
We’re paying the costs associated with the data collection and the follow-up messages that will let us sort the numbers by zip code. And we’ll let you use the names. All we ask is that you, at a couple of points during your Tea Party, ask everyone in attendance to hold up their cell phones and then urge them to text “Tea Party” to the number 74362. And, if you have a sign in table, we’ve also provide a flyer that you can post with the essential information.
