The GOP is now taking a lot of heat for “rebranding” the Democrat party as “The Democrat Socialist Party.” The debate shouldn’t be about whether or not republicans are calling democrats socialist, the debate should be about whether or not Americans want socialism.
Other than the GOP and conservatives, nobody seems to be asking Americans if they really want to become a (more) socialist nation. We can thank our public education system and the media for that. Children aren’t educated on the failures (to put it mildly) of socialism – or if you prefer – Marxism. The media, AKA useful idiots, aren’t going to inform the public as to socialism’s ills. So naturally the republicans will be called out for calling the democrats what they are. What else is to be expected?
Recessions are natural in any economy. Bubbles burst, things level out, and then the economy begins moving again. The democrats and President Obama are using the recession to advance their socialist agenda. They don’t care that we can’t pay for the socialist programs already in place. They even mocked President Bush for trying to do something about the problem four years ago. Does anyone remember President Bush’s 2005 State of the Union address when the democrats all sat on their hands when he brought up the unsustainability of Social Security? They may as well have booed.
When Social Security was introduced by President Franklin D. Roosevelt it was sold as an old age “insurance” policy. Back then socialism wasn’t popular. What a difference several decades, public education, and a parrot press corps can make. Anyone who mentions socialism these days is labeled a fascist. It would be nice if people understood that fascists are socialists.
Socialism is centralized control of an economy. How can anyone argue with a straight face that we aren’t headed towards socialism? Here’s just a short list:
- Taking over a major US auto company, firing its CEO and dictating what types of cars it should manufacture.
- Directing a bankruptcy of another major US auto company and threatening its private investors while protecting the union.
- Spending trillions of dollars, in the middle of a recession, to nationalize health care.
- Directing private insurance companies to give the president a plan for savings by next month.
- Scheming to regulate the compensation of employees of financial institutions. Even the ones accepting no government funds.
There’s no reason for any of the above actions other than state control of the economy. Sorry folks, but if it walks like a socialist and talks like a socialist it’s probably a socialist.
Now if we can only convince the republicans to stop trying to be Democrat-lite.
Update I couldn’t find video of the Democrats sitting down when it came to saving Social Security in 2005, but Gateway Pundit found video of them cheering that President Bush wasn’t able to save Social Security in 2006.

We are moving beyond Socialism. We are entering the Commie Zone. Barack O’ Teleprompter announced today that he now wants to DICTATE/STALINIZE executive comp to companies, regardless if they have accepted gubbimint funds or not. NOTHING Socialist about this. Smacks of full blown, Messiah complex driven COMMUNISM.

Look for an event that, like the fire in the Reichstag (Google it!)will be an excuse for Barry O to take supreme power.
The only thing that may prevent this from going too far is the second amendment. **Which is exactly why we have it!**
