The Wall Street Journal reports that President Obama is looking to close the money gap between the democrats and the GOP. Michael Steele’s been taking a lot of hits for his performance as chair of the RNC, but you wouldn’t know it by looking at the numbers.
President Barack Obama is taking up a new role for the Democratic Party: Fund-Raiser-in-Chief.
This Sunday, following his commencement speech at Notre Dame, he headlines a $15,000-a-couple event in Indianapolis. Then comes a May 27 Beverly Hills gala — at $30,400 a couple. That dinner, looking to draw a big entertainment-industry guest list, is expected to gross at least $3 million.
The fund-raisers are part of a longer-term strategy by the Democratic National Committee to overcome its also-ran status to the Republican Party in the race for political donations.
While Mr. Obama and Democratic congressional candidates outpaced their Republican rivals in campaign cash last year, the Democratic Party lagged behind the Republican Party in raising money for party-building efforts.
I thought there was a recession going on! $15,000 per plate – wow! How about we spread that wealth around? And with all the money going to ACORN is fundraising really necessary? Can’t they just launder stimulus money through their favorite constituencies?
Any hope that the president would start spending more time governing and less time campaigning is now dashed.

There IS some hope: the libs I know are in two camps right now: those that think there is no need to donate cash since they Own The World. And those who are going “Uh-oh, I think I supported and voted for the wrong people”. Fundraising in Nevada not what is was last year. I’m absolutely desperate for someone to take on Clean Face Harry Reid. Haven’t heard anything in the local buzz; suspect if there is someone Harry’s worried about I’ll hear that and then send money to that Republican ASAP!
Maybe it’s better that Obama just keeps campaigning; if you look at the liberal blogs the last few days, that’s not so sweet any more either.

The libs are mad, Obie knows he can’t let us all get blown up by terrorists and stand a chance at re-election. But the far left doesn’t care. They’re so whacked in the head.
Best of luck to anyone who will take on Dingy Harry.
