In la-la liberal land democracy and rule of law are universal. But in the real world we have tyrants, dictators, and islamofascists. When it comes to foreign policy, we’re left with no clue what President Obama is thinking. Or is he thinking at all? One must wonder.
US President Barack Obama said Monday that the United States cannot impose its values on other countries, but argued that principles such as democracy and the rule of law were universal.
In an interview with the BBC ahead of a visit first to Saudi Arabia and Egypt and then Europe, Obama said the United States must lead by example — which firstly meant closing the Guantanamo Bay detention camp on Cuba.
“The danger I think is when the United States or any country thinks that we can simply impose these values on another country with a different history and a different culture,” the president told the broadcaster.
On this, I’m afraid I must agree with our president. I don’t think we should try to impose the American values of 2009 on anyone. I don’t want those values imposed on my American children! I don’t even know what today’s ”American values” are anymore. They certainly aren’t the values of individual responsibility, honest-to-goodness empathy, charity, and the rule of law (regardless of one’s race) that are the values I was raised with.

It’s hard to tell what his values are. Sad.

Has anyone noticed how he and his gang treat Colombia (a soon-to-be-ex-ally ) and his new “friends” based on so-called human rights issues? It’s just like everything else they do.

American values and Obama’s values are NOT the same!
BTW: You cannot IMPOSE freedom on someone.
But why am I surprised as that comes from those who feel it’s the right’s responsibility to prove a negative? (wtf?)
