Obama: We aren’t spending fast enough

Today he promised to ramp up spending and create or save 600,000 jobs. How many times have we heard that?

Surrounded by his Cabinet, Obama emphasized what has become a dominant issue of public concern _ an economy that keeps bleeding jobs _ on the day after returning from a week of diplomacy and sightseeing in the Middle East and Europe.

He concentrated in his remarks on the billions of dollars from a taxpayer-funded plan that will be disbursed this summer, although much what he was described was already in the works, spurring new debate about just how much the $787 billion stimulus plan is helping so far.

“We’ve done more than ever, faster than ever, more responsibility than ever, to get the gears of the economy moving again,” Obama said.

Based on the work done across a broad spectrum of federal agencies during the first 100 days of the administration, Obama said, “we’re in a position to really accelerate.”

 He can promise to create or save two million jobs, but how can he prove it? And never mind that the stimulus is already having negative effects on the economy. It looks like he’s in a position to really accelerate right over a cliff. Too bad he’s taking us all with him.

One Response to Obama: We aren’t spending fast enough

    Well, I reckon old mister “pull my finger”, can talk all he wants, but the cerebral flatulence still doesn’t get it done.

    This was what popped into my mind when I first saw his new claims;

    “…we have been in pain, we have as it were brought forth wind ; we have not wrought any deliverance in the earth”…
