The republican field of potential 2012 candidates is imploding. The latest bad news came from SC Governor Mark Sanford. One of the few that seems to be doing everything right these days politically is Mitt Romney. Since he doesn’t hold political office it’s easy for him to avoid the press microscope and make appearances of his choosing. He’s also a fund raising machine. So it’s no surprise that a recent poll shows his popularity is on the rise.
Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney has seen his favorability ratings improve and now enjoys a positive balance of opinion among the general public: 40% rate him favorably, 28% unfavorably. This marks a reversal of opinion from February 2008, during the latter stages of the GOP primary campaign, when just 30% viewed him favorably and 44% expressed an unfavorable opinion. …
Since February 2008, shortly before he abandoned his race for the GOP presidential nomination, opinion of Romney has improved across most political and demographic groups, but the shift has been particularly pronounced among independents. In February 2008, just 29% of independents had a positive impression of Romney while 46% had a negative view. Today, that balance is reversed: 44% view Romney favorably and 25% unfavorably.
The next republican presidential primary has the potential to be as ugly, or uglier, than the last one. Alaska Governor Sarah Palin continues to enjoy high favorability ratings among republicans, but she’s still having trouble with independents. Throw Huckabee into the mix and who-knows-who-else and it’s sure to be bruising. Prediction: Absent a liberal candidate Romney will win New Hampshire.

Oh dear! What was I thinking? I just corrected my mistake. Thanks for pointing it out. It’s tiring keeping up with the gang of statists controlling our nation.

That’s ok LC I’m working a double today. I had to count on my fingers to make sure what I saw was a bit off.
