The shifting bar keeps moving down

During a campaign speech for her husband last year, Michelle Obama lamented the shifting bar in America. As if there’s some evil plot by the “haves” to keep the “have nots” down.

“You start working hard and sacrificing, and you think you’re getting closer to the bar, you’re working and you’re struggling, you get right to that bar, you’re reaching out for the bar, and then what happens?”

“They raise the bar!”

“They raise the bar. Raise the bar. Shift it to the side. Keep it just out of reach.”

“Yes!”

“And that’s just what’s been happening in this race.”

Remember that? Who knew that the real shifting bar in America is the bar between the rich and the poor or middle class? But the bar isn’t being raised, it keeps going down. President Obama promised no tax hikes for any American earning less than $250,000 per year. Many of us knew it was a lie, it had to be. There aren’t enough rich people in America (and there will surely be less rich Americans by the time Obama and the democrats are done) to pay the bills Team Obama is racking up.

The bar has been lowered again. We’re all getting hosed. Oh – except for union members. Max Baucus is the latest to let the cat out of the bag.

Soon anybody with a job will be considered wealthy.

I’m getting ready to make the various utility (et. al.)payments MINUS the taxes with this note:

    Dear Sirs,

I enclose payment for this month’s bill minus taxes. You are not tax collectors. You are not the IRS. My taxes are between me and the gov’t.

Thank you for caring but I’ll handle this matter from now on.

    Sincerely,
    Sam Adams

I guess those fiscally irresponsible conservatives don’t like having to pay the bill when they act tough in place of being intelligent. For the record…last 3 republicans, each one’s national deficit highest in history. Each time, a democrat has to come in and right the ship so another republican can come along and try to sink it again. Doesn’t sound very conservative to me. Just a bunch of bonehead excuses as to why things went wrong. This is why the republicans cannot get support from the American people. People are sick of paying for mistakes. The republican party could have had a solid candidate in Huckabee…but, thought with their hearts and not their heads in backing McCain.

Most conservatives are not fiscally irresponsible. Republicans – yes, there are quite a few fiscally irresponsible republicans. But President Obama has done a bang up job in showing them up, approving more spending than any president in the history of the republic. He owns this mess he’s creating.
