What Obama didn’t say

Finally President Obama condemned the violent actions of the Iranian regime against its own people. Was that so hard to do? But still, it’s odd the that same regime will still be partying like it’s 1776 on Independence day with US diplmoats. What a way to taint the holiday.

He also talked about his cigarette habit, claiming he’s only a 5% smoker now. News flash – you either smoke or you don’t.

The president kind of tipped his hand when talking about health care. It went something like “The government will not push you out of your health plan.” He failed to mention that the government will push your health plan out of business, forcing you onto the government plan.

He also failed to mention a few other things. Politico analyzed the speech and some key words were glaringly absent.

A couple of surprising words were missing from President Barack Obama’s 55-minute news conference on Wednesday: “Iraq” – and “Afghanistan.”

Also MIA: “Korea,” “Pakistan,” “soldiers,” “surge” and “war” – as well as the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines.

The omissions were partly a result of the short attention span of the press, which did not ask about those topics after the president did not mention them in his opening statement.

But the silence on those subjects also provides a striking illustration of one of the singular differences between Obama and his predecessor.

Striking, indeed. One cares about the troops and one doesn’t. Oh - unless there’s a photo-op.
