Another broken promise by Obama – Lobbyists are now a-ok!

I don’t know who first came up with it, but the first place I saw the term “expiration date” when it comes to Obama’s promises and campaign pledges was Hot Air. Every promise the man has ever made seems to have an expiration date. The latest is the pledge to put an end to special interest groups having influence over the White House. (I hope you didn’t blow the beverage you’re drinking out your nostrils when you read that! :) )

In March, President Obama announced that government officials would not be allowed to consider the views of lobbyists regarding specific stimulus projects unless the requests are put in writing. The materials also had to be posted on an agency’s website within three business days of receipt. Lobbyists have said that the policy was one more example of the administration’s disdain for their industry.

Now, the just-revised rules will allow government personnel to accept meetings and calls from federally registered lobbyists on the implementation of stimulus projects. The head of the Office of Management and Budget, Peter Orszag, issued a new guidance late Friday regarding the administration’s communications with registered lobbyists about economic recovery funds.

Lobbyists can make their cases — and agency officials can listen to them — at “widely attended gatherings.” Government officials have to ask whether the person they are talking to at such events is a federally registered lobbyist speaking on behalf of a client.

But wait, what about all of those meetings the president and his staff have had behind closed doors in the White House? And I’m still waiting for the AARP to come out against ObummerCare.  But all I hear are crickets chirping in the night. Hello!?!? AARP!?!? Hello? You’re a special interest group. Don’t you want to be a special interest going to the White House to protect your members? Now that we all know ObummerCare isn’t so much about conscripting the children of the republic into servitude of America’s senior citizens; as it is about asking our seniors to just up and die; shouldn’t the AARP be taking a stand one way or the other?

Hello? Hello?

Any fool dumb enough to believe his promises will get what they deserve. Anybody heard from Christopher Buckley lately? Hey, Dave Ramsey, will you vote for this America-hater again?
