President Obama, knowing he’s slipping in the polls, had to show the liberal blogosphere a little love. Isn’t that sweet? I wonder why he didn’t invite conservative bloggers to provide a little balance.
Via Crooks and Liars (Aptly named, as the only way ObummerCare will work is through theft and lies):
President Obama and David Axlerod hosted a conference call with liberal bloggers today on the whole health care issue. The audio contains the entire call with the President. You know we’re heading for the home stretch in this debate and I thought it was a good idea that the President reached out to the blogs and acknowledged the work that we’ve done so far. Here’s a quick recap of the points he made.
Oooh! David Axelrod was in on the action. Wow! Here are some of the points Dear Leader made to his adoring fans:
President Obama wanted to tell us directly what’s going on..
He wants the bill to be strong with an excellent public option.
The status quo is unacceptable for Americans as premiums are skyrocketing….
Doing nothing is defending the indefensible
Opponents are offering up nothing and admit that they are just trying to stop it. He mentioned Jim DeMint and Bill Kristol as examples of obstructionism.
Liberal Bloggers have done an excellent job of debunking right wing myths…
Bloggers have played and will play a critical role in passing legislation…
Record deficits is a myth. He inherited this deficit and it’s not an excuse for inaction…
It’s important to keep pressure on members of Congress…
How about conservative bloggers continue to expose the lies told by Dear Leader? There sure are plenty. And that’s not all he lies about. He inherited a deficit, yes, but not this deficit! How about the way he’s singing a different tune on the Porkulus bill? It’s exactly as conservative bloggers predicted it would be. A boondoggle that only stimulates government and supporters of the Democrat Party.
Update: This little tidbit was farther into the call than I listened to at Crooks and Liars. From Heritage:
During the call, a blogger from Maine said he kept running into an Investors Business Daily article that claimed Section 102 of the House health legislation would outlaw private insurance. He asked: “Is this true? Will people be able to keep their insurance and will insurers be able to write new policies even though H.R. 3200 is passed?” President Obama replied: “You know, I have to say that I am not familiar with the provision you are talking about.” (quote begins at 17:10)
This is a truly disturbing admission by the President, especially considering that later in the call, Obama promises yet again: “If you have health insurance, and you like it, and you have a doctor that you like, then you can keep it. Period.” How can Obama keep making this promise if he is not familiar with the health legislation that is being written in Congress? Details matter.
This also begs the question – does he read any of the bills he signs? Really, I don’t know how he would find the time in between his many speeches and television appearances.
Follow the link to Heritage above to find out how many Americans will be forced into the government health plan. It’s somewhat shocking.
