Big mouths in Congress shocked they weren’t provided classified intelligence info

My four year old is better at keeping a secret than members of congress, especially the democrats. Their most recent leak to the press of classified information is that the CIA was thinking about putting a plan in place to kill or capture al Qaeda leaders. From the Wall Street Journal:

A secret Central Intelligence Agency initiative terminated by Director Leon Panetta was an attempt to carry out a 2001 presidential authorization to capture or kill al Qaeda operatives, according to former intelligence officials familiar with the matter.

The precise nature of the highly classified effort isn’t clear, and the CIA won’t comment on its substance.

According to current and former government officials, the agency spent money on planning and possibly some training. It was acting on a 2001 presidential legal pronouncement, known as a finding, which authorized the CIA to pursue such efforts. The initiative hadn’t become fully operational at the time Mr. Panetta ended it.

Why aren’t the democrats asking why Panetta ended the plan? Don’t we want to kill al Qaeda leaders? I suppose that’s beside the point, at least to the party of panty waists. Why is this even an issue? The plan never became operational. What was there to tell? Dianne Feinstein doesn’t care.

On Sunday, lawmakers criticized the Bush administration’s decision not to tell Congress. Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Dianne Feinstein, a Democrat from California, hinted that the Bush administration may have broken the law by not telling Congress.

“We were kept in the dark. That’s something that should never, ever happen again,” she said. Withholding such information from Congress, she said, “is a big problem, because the law is very clear.”

Ms. Feinstein said Mr. Panetta told the lawmakers that Mr. Cheney had ordered that the information be withheld from Congress.

Aha! Feinstein hinted that they may have broken the law. That’s what this is about – looking for a way to prosecute Republicans, while distracting attention from the miserable economy and the fact that Nancy Pelosi lied about what she knew about waterboarding and when she knew it.

The way these dangerous democrats so nonchalantly blab classified national security information, you can’t fault Dick Cheney for wanting the information withheld. They would rather play political games than ensure Americans aren’t blown up by our enemies.
