Climate Change and the Politics of Fear

From 9/12/01 until 11/5/08 democrats have been howling about the politics of fear. It was endless. In a sense they were right, I was afraid of putting pansy liberals in charge of national security and for a while so were most Americans. But memories fade and the fickle go looking for change.

Now it’s the democrats practicing the politics of fear. But they aren’t really concerned with our enemies, democrats are too busy apologizing to them. No, they’re trying to frighten us into supporting an ecomomically disastrous energy plan which really has nothing to do with energy and everything to do with rewarding special interests.

Screaming “the sky is falling” or “the oceans are rising” didn’t work for the Chicken Littles so they’ve decided to ramp up the fear mongering.

Massive crop devastation, melting glaciers, water shortages, millions of displaced people — all of these will drag the US military into conflict if global climate change goes unchecked, a Senate panel was warned today.

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing, convened by Senator John F. Kerry of Massachusetts, focused on what so far has received only modest attention in the climate change debate: the effect it is bound to have on national defense.

“Addressing the consequences of changes in the Earth’s climate is not simply about saving polar bears or preserving the beauty of mountain glaciers,” retired Navy Vice Adm. Lee F. Gunn, president of the American Security Project, told the panel. “Climate change is a threat to our national security.”

What we really ought to be afraid of is the complete willingness to destroy the US economy. Not only are they trying to pass what amounts to a massive energy tax on the American people, the federal government has spent over $79 Billion since 1989 on unnecessary climate change policies.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.
