Et Tu Benedict?
ByGreat, now I have to find a new church.
Pope Benedict XVI on Tuesday called for a radical rethinking of the global economy, criticizing a growing divide between rich and poor and urging the establishment of a “world political authority” to oversee the economy and work for the “common good.”
While I’m all for charity, the last thing the free countries of the world need is a “world political authority” to answer to. Wealthy countries didn’t just magically become wealthy, it happened through freedom and hard work. The poorest countries all seem to share one common characteristic - lack of freedom.
It looks like Pope Benedict and President Obama will have a lot to talk about when they meet on Friday.
