The Founders of this once great republic are rolling in their graves. I can almost hear Thomas Jefferson: “But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.” We certainly need new guards for our future security.
Here is Rep. John Conyers speaking at the National Press Club: (via CNS News)
“We need a real serious bill and, by the way, the fundamental question, ‘Is health care a constitutional right?’” he said. “I mean, do you have a right to health care in the American system of government or not?”
“Well, we believe that people do and we’re introducing a constitutional amendment just to make it real clear so that you don’t have to infer or assume that that’s a given and all that.”
The British decided decades ago that health care is a right. How’s that working out?

Actually, we do have a right to healthcare. What there’s not is an entitlement for someone else paying for your own. But we get the point.
Isn’t it ironic, however, that under a government controlled system, healthcare will be rationed to control cost which, therefore, violates your right to it, even if you’d be willing to pay for it out of pocket. So much for the right.

Wonder what kind of health care his wife will be getting in jail. Strange how little we are hearing about the Representative’s wife and her legal problems.
