The Syracuse Post Standard reported today that State Assemblywoman Dede Scozzofava picked up the GOP endorsement for the 23rd Congressional District seat. They didn’t include much information about the woman. She’s pro-abortion and gay marriage and has split with her party in the state Assembly. I’m not in her district so I can’t vote for her, but her district is just to my north and is a seat the democrats will be fighting like dogs to win.
It sounded to me like she is just the sort of “moderate” republican candidate that gets trounced at the polls every time. But, I hate to be cynical, so I thought I’d check out her website.
As Mayor, Dede led the Village from an inherited budget deficit to a positive fund balance while also creating the Gouverneur Area Microenterprise Revolving Loan Fund to help spur local job growth. Other important accomplishments, which included setting up a natural gas utility for village residents and upgrading the village water plant, resulted in Dede receiving the New York State Conference of Mayors’ Award.
It doesn’t tell me all that much. It also says she has served on all sorts of bureaucratic sounding committees in the Assembly with really long names. That’s never good. I’ll reserve judgment until I find out more about Assemblywoman Scozzofava and her as yet unknown opponent.
In the mean time I will continue looking forward to voting against Dan Maffei in 2010!

Me too. He’s fired!

Dennis – She has been endorsed by the ACORN backed Working Families Party. I mentioned it in this post:

This is where the RNC really burns me. This lady is the equivalent of Olympia Snow and other Rino’s.
