Remember the way the left howled about President George W. Bush’s cowboy diplomacy? We were told the world hated us because Bush looked out for the best interests of the United Sates. President Obama’s working on “resetting” our relationship with Russia - you know - after all the damage President Bush did to our image.
So isn’t it odd that Putin spent some time before his visit with President Obama heaping praise upon Obama’s predecessor?
Russia’s Prime Minister Vladimir Putin praised the hospitality and openness of U.S. former President George W. Bush in a telegramme sent hours before meeting his successor Barack Obama.
“During the last years we have been working on strengthening Russia-U.S. cooperation. Although there were differences between our countries, I always valued your openness and sincerity,” Putin said, congratulating Bush on his 63rd birthday on July 6.
“With special warmth I recall your hospitality in the Crawford ranch and your family estate in Kennebunkport,” Putin wrote, referring to their 2007 meeting at the Bush family vacation home when the two leaders went fishing and ate lobster.
Gee, maybe Mr. Bush wasn’t so bad after all! Not only was he able to treat Putin with respect - despite their differences - but also command respect from the former KGB agent.
It’s doutbful world leaders have anywhere near the level of respect for Mr. Obama. He’s been on a world apology tour, has sided with dictators and socialist thugs, all the while denying America’s status as a world leader. He couldn’t even bring himself to give credit to Ronald Reagan for ending the Cold War. If all that weren’t bad enough, he’s now selling our security for some sort of hopeychange footsie with Russia.
Ralph Peters, writing in the New York Post, called President Obama’s negotiations with Russia a ‘desperate deal.’
President Obama’s ideological bias against nuclear weapons dates back to his undergraduate years. Yet those weapons kept the peace between the world’s great powers for 64 years. A few remarks about deterrence notwithstanding, Obama just doesn’t get it.
He agreed to trim our nuclear-warhead arsenal by one-third and — even more dangerously — to cut the systems that deliver the nuclear payloads. In fact, the Russians don’t care much about our warhead numbers (which will be chopped to a figure “between 1,500 and 1,675″). What they really wanted — and got — was a US cave-in regarding limits on our nuclear-capable bombers, submarines and missiles that could leave us with as few as 500 such systems, if the Russians continue to get their way as the final details are negotiated.
Moscow knows we aren’t going to start a nuclear war with Russia. Putin (forget poor “President” Dmitry Medvedev) wants to gut our conventional capabilities to stage globe-spanning military operations. He wants to cut us down to Russia’s size.
Our problem is that many nuclear-delivery systems — such as bombers or subs — are “dual-use”: A B-2 bomber can launch nukes, but it’s employed more frequently to deliver conventional ordnance.
Putin sought to cripple our ability to respond to international crises. Obama, meanwhile, was out for “deliverables” — deals that could be signed in front of the cameras. Each man got what he wanted.
President Obama even expressed an interest in further nuclear-weapons cuts. Peace in our time, ladies and gentlemen, peace in our time . . .
We just agreed to the disarmament position of the American Communist Party of the 1950s.
I suggest you read the whole article. You’re going to love finding out what we’re getting in return for Obama selling out our security. And you’re going to wish we had a cowboy in the White House rather than some metrosexual, smooth-talking Alinskyite.

Talk talk talk…..”Death by Committee” applied to nation security.
The Dems are so clueless.

Sadly for us, it appears that Obama’s poker skills are in the same league with his bowling and girly-style baseball throw.
Russia recieved much of what it wants before Obama even landed, i.e. council with NATO, so how would anybody expect Barack to gain advantage? Meanwhile, the Kremlin has failed even to comply with the terms of the truce signed with Georgia last year- continuing to do pretty much as it pleases.
I don’t see any reason to be doing deals with the Russians- they have nothing to offer the United States, IMO.

Obama makes friendly with bad dictators, but look at the nice things that Putin has to say about Bush?
Here’s a question, what dictator has Obama ever even mentioned who doesn’t go to bed at night dreaming about being as gangster as Putin is?
Seriously, if this is supposed to be a comedy blog, very few of your commentators seem to be in on the joke.

Few seem to remember the missing nukes at the end of the Cold War. Yes, those which may have slipped into terrorists hands. Does anyone believe Putin and the KGB let them get out of their sight? We may not know where they are, but you can bet Putin and Israel can give us an accurate count, location and status on each warhead.
Appeasement is a fancy word for yellow.
