Talk about hubris. The G8 leaders promised today to keep global temperatures from rising 3.6 degrees Farenheit! All of a sudden man can control the weather. Please. Actually, that promise isn’t all that hard to make, considering we’re entering a phase of global cooling.
But it isn’t about global warming, cooling or climate change. It’s about control – that’s what they’re really after.
They also agreed to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 80 per cent by 2050 as they strove for a worldwide deal at Copenhagen in December. [...]
Welcoming the agreement on climate change, made possible by America’s change in stance since Mr Obama succeeded George Bush as President, Mr Brown said: “For the first time the G8 has agreed what I believe are vital decisions that take us on the road to Copenhagen and change the way we look at energy policy.
These people want to control what car you drive – or make you ride a train with a texting operator. They want to control your thermostat. At least many European leaders have the sense to pursue nuclear energy. Not so for President Obama.
President Bush wasn’t perfect, but he certainly didn’t sell us out to the rest of the world. He didn’t kick off his presidency with a world apology tour. He didn’t set about systematically destroying our economy and way of life. President Bush didn’t want to control us, he didn’t want to control the economy. He wanted us to keep more of our hard earned money so the economy would take care of itself. (Including “bubbles that burst” – it’s called a correction.) He stood up for us against the Kyoto Protocol. He knew it would kill the economy, for no good reason.
President Obama doesn’t care. For him it’s all about control.
