The very people the Democrats allege they will help with their health care overhaul are the ones who will most likely be hurt the worst by this man made disaster. Keith Hennessey scrutinized the House health care bill and found that middle class Americans who don’t have health insurance - and for whatever reason remain uninsured after Obamacare passes - will pay a health care tax. Basically, they will be forced to pay for the health care of others while they remain without coverage. Here’s an example:
To summarize, under the House bill:
•Freddy and Kelsey are a 40-year old couple with two kids. They own and run a small tourist shop in Orlando, Florida.
•They are the only employees, and earn a combined $90K per year.
•They cannot afford even an inexpensive health insurance plan, and so the House bill would make them pay $2,050 in higher taxes.
Because of differing state mandates when it comes to what private health insurance carriers must cover, this will hit the middle class in states like New York the hardest. How many millions of Americans will fall into this trap: still unable to afford health insurance but forced by the government to pay for everyone else’s insurance?
I also can’t help but think about my own employer. It’s a small company with health insurance offered to full time employees. I don’t know what my employer’s yearly income is, but it’s obvious he’s doing well. Isn’t it ironic that he provides health insurance for his employees, yet will be hit with a surtax on his income simply because his company is a success? (The House bill also includes a provision to tax the wealthy.) If Obamacare passes I guess I can kiss my Christmas bonus goodbye.
Do we really want to give up our freedom for this?
