I knew Peggy Noonan didn’t have much use for Sarah Palin, but I underestimated the hatred. Noonan has a serious case of Palin Derangement Syndrome. Her latest column in the Wall Street Journal is nothing short of a hit piece. What I find so odd is that this so-called conservative woman fails to hold back her venomous feelings towards Sarah Palin, but any infrequent criticism she aims at Barack Obama is veiled at best.
Sarah Palin does not hold national office. Sarah Palin has no power to veto, vote for, or help craft federal legislation. In short, for the most part Sarah Palin’s actions have no direct impact on the lives of American citizens, other than those in Alaska. So why Peggy Noonan chose to write this scathing indictment of the (soon to be) former governor of Alaska is puzzling.
In addition to calling Palin stupid, Noonan even attacks the idea of Palin coming from a working class family.
To wit, “I love her because she’s so working-class.” This is a favorite of some party intellectuals. She is not working class, never was, and even she, avid claimer of advantage that she is, never claimed to be and just lets others say it. Her father was a teacher and school track coach, her mother the school secretary. They were middle-class figures of respect, stability and local status. I think intellectuals call her working-class because they see the makeup, the hair, the heels and the sleds and think they’re working class “tropes.” Because, you know, that’s what they teach in “Ways of the Working Class” at Yale and Dartmouth.
What she is, is a seemingly very nice middle-class girl with ambition, appetite and no sense of personal limits.
Ask any school teacher or secretary if they’re working class. My guess is most would say yes. Isn’t anyone who works for a living – depending on a paycheck - considered working class? The working class is the middle class. I guess that idea is lost on a woman who has lived in the Washington bubble for so long.
Now that Noonan’s gotten her Palin Derangement Syndrome off her chest, perhaps she can begin to focus her attention on the destruction her president and congress are doing to our republic. Just a suggestion – one her former boss would probably approve of.

Ok, Sarah has a U.S. birth certificate and her school records aren’t sealed. No wonder the Socialists hate her so much.

Noonan is typical of the Old Girls who made it through the system the hard way. They resent anyone younger, prettier or smarter because they view the easier path to power for a woman as their private turf to accept or deny. By not having tea with Noonan or Couric, Palin made the mistake of assuming that these were intellectual grown-ups. They are not. They are the same catty cheerleaders that made life hell for the rest of us. They have no target with Bush since he’s been both out of office and very reserved for the last six months. So all of that liberal angst is aimed squarely at Palin. It doesn’t help that there is the attitude of the up east folks that any education out of the Ivy League or any history that doesn’t include weekends in the Hamptons is somehow a hillbilly upbringing. What Noonan and her ilk don’t realize is that we are not the freaks, she is. She is the odd one out, the one that the rest of us do not understand. I am sure she will continue with her bullying ways, after all, she wants to stay “in” with the celebrity in crowd.

WOW – she’s way past menopause so what is her beef, other than Palin can out-talk her, out-shine her, and draw a bigger crowd, even though Palin didn’t write speeches for Ronald Reagan.
Of course, she has also been corrupted by that other network she hangs at occasionally. While she may have appeared brilliant back in the day, brilliant minds aren’t so easily vacated.
