Oh, the irony.
A couple of things missing from the President’s address: “God Bless America”, “Independence Day”. But he didn’t forget to remind us that America sucks.
That is the spirit we are called to show once more. We are facing an array of challenges on a scale unseen in our time. We are waging two wars. We are battling a deep recession. And our economy – and our nation itself – are endangered by festering problems we have kicked down the road for far too long: spiraling health care costs; inadequate schools; and a dependence on foreign oil.
Compare to the words of President George W. Bush on July 4, 2002:
“The anniversary of America’s independence is a day for gratitude, and a day for celebration. On the 4th of July, we count our blessings, and there are so many to count. We’re thankful for the families we love. We’re thankful for the opportunities in America. We’re thankful for our freedom, the freedom declared by our founding fathers, defended by many generations and granted to each one of us by Almighty God.
“Americans know that our country did not come about by chance. Our nation was first designed as a colony, serving an empire and answering to a king. The founders had other things in mind. In the summer of 1776, they declared that these colonies are and, of right, ought to be free and independent states.
“With a great army massed against the Americans, these were not idle words. “Stepping forward to sign the Declaration,” said Dr. Benjamin Rush, “was like signing your own death warrant.” Yet he and 55 others put their name on the document, pledging to the cause their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor.
“And all Americans can draw a straight line from the free lives we lead today to that one moment, when the world changed forever. From that day in 1776, freedom has had a home, and freedom has had a defender.

Barack Obama is not a President. He’s just another celebrity.

That chin-life pic is something else. The hypocrisy of him talking about schools that compete worldwide? We know why our schools do not compete and it is because of community organizers like him who only want to celebrate ethnicity when that ethnicity isn’t White. Dumb them down. Makes it easier for the teachers. Don’t need the parents.
So depressing.
Hey L.C., I hope you, your husband and your boys are having a true, red white and blue Independence Day.

I don’t know about other parts of the country, but my niece has her children enrolled in Montessori academy schools. She did that because when she was a teenager, I talked to her about Montessori and the way they teach–which is to teach you to think logically, and really absorb a fact and not just memorize for a test. Her kids are testing well beyond the grades they are in. And it doesn’t take a lot of money for a lot of equipment, either—-it’s the TEACHING METHOD that works. I can’t for the life of me figure out why liberals and even most conservatives think that the reason we lag behind is a lack of money. It’s a lack of teachable theory and parental involvement as near as I can tell. When the simple fix is right in front of you and you have to listen to Dumbo prattle on, it does make for depressing reading…

Obama thinks of this country the way a doctor thinks about a festering infection. That it stinks
